Any telehandler is worth fixing. In 70-80s we never had one or a man lift. All hand work ladders carrying material up . A new one cost $150k . So keep this ole Funny Bone.. I bought a Lull 1044-54 2001 at Ritchie brothers $35 k . Wish I had it when I was a kid back in 80s Good job and channel.

Something to be aware of with rubber brake hoses; the inner liner can separate from the outer reinforced layers and act as a check valve - causing the brake caliper to hang and drag excessively. I've run into this on more than one occasion and all have been on disk brakes. I assume it is more likely to occur on disc brake systems vs drum due to the much higher flow volumes needed to actuate the larger piston area of disc calipers.

I've rebuilt several calipers. Some I just cleaned up and used the existing rubber parts without leaks. I've used the master cylinder to push the stuck pistons out. However, I've NEVER not been able to push one out! Calipers are the lowest part in the brake system. They collect all of the moisture that the brake fluid absorbs! Great job cross referencing the numbers on the calipers!

It’s good when kids take time to help their parents and you have the tools/equipment to do it. The grey sealer or epoxy on the exhaust, is it the epoxy advertising on ytube channels that will not drill or grind. If you use flexible pipe on exhaust it will rust out and not last very long. I’m glad you didn’t use any of it. Very good video Jesse

For the brake bleeding, any old plastic jug will work, as long as the hose curves up before it comes back down (so the bubbles rise away from the caliper). I usually use a gallon water jug with the hollow handle, and I'll stick the clear hose into the handle so it stays put. Regardless, nice work on a tough brake job

Are those tires foam filled or air? Pneumatic makes me nervous when people are in the basket. If a tire suddenly lost pressure and the machine tips down 6", the resulting movement in the basket would be much more, potentially throwing somebody out. Might think about safety harnesses. Good job on the brakes. I had a similar experience on my dump truck. Many of the brakes were locked up, but it's hard to tell on this big equipment. I like your weld on the exhaust flange, cutting the flange to bend down tabs and fill that gap. Nice work.
@jmuller86
Жыл бұрын
These are air filled, and yea I have been thinking about that for a while. It wouldnt do much good to hook to this basket with a harness but the new basket should be coming in any day and its got plenty of hook spots for harnesses. And I also just got 3 new harnesses, so we will be tying off the next time someone is in the basket. That is also a reason that I do not want to move my crane much, if a tire fails while towing it....that thing would probably tip off the lowboy. Its funny that you are the first person to mention this, but it is really an issue with air filled tires.

Put some silicone on the ends of that flexpipe, it might look tight from the outside but there is always a small slit when no gasket is used. Small dust particles is what kills an engine quickly, we get at least 5-6 customers a year that kill a good older engine because the intake piping after the filter has dry rotted and is sucking in dust.

Locked calipers happen when you leave a vehicle sitting for long periods with the hand brake on its better to park on level ground chock the wheels and let it be then when you try to move it then the piston should free up as there is some space for piston to travel
