I glad you gave Bradford Dillman a shout-out. He was a very dependable, excellent actor in every film he did - 'Compulsion' being my favorite. Oh - and another fun sci-fi movie from the '60s that I've long enjoyed, is 'Robinson Crusoe on Mars'. Byron Haskin made many enjoyable films.

Unearthly Stranger is from that run of "alien movies" made in the UK around that period. "Invasion", "The Night Caller", "The Earth Dies Screaming", "The Bodystealers", "The Terrornauts", "They Came From Beyond Space". Planet of the Vampires shares something in common with Star Wars as well, a rare Sci Fi film with no humans from Earth, or originally from Earth, in it.

I read The Mind of Mr Soams about 20 years ago, while stuck on an old hippy farm right up near the tip of Cape York, while flooded in over the Wet Season....we were isolated for 3 months. The few novels that I had brought with me and the few I managed to find that had been left behind by other visitors over the years kept my mind occupied. TMoMS was one of the more interesting of the novels that I had found. It was an ancient copy that had been soaked several times and was dog eared and munched by termites and the local small furry fauna. Those novels kept me sane during the isolation up there... a very protracted and wild monsoon and a couple of cyclones were pretty interesting, but cabin fever was most definitely setting in by the time we could get out.

Maybe more fun fantasy than sci-fi, I cast my vote for delicious, shameless, groovy caper movies of the '60s. My fave is "Danger: Diabolik" (1968). Based on a French comic book character who is a super cat burglar and his pre-Emma Peel partner-in-crime girlfriend, Diabolik pulls off impossible heists and the crime couple repairs to their underground lair. It's SO '60s: borrowed futuristic sets from Dino De Laurentis; getaway cars that are matching E Type Jags and wonderfully wardrobed actors John Philip Law and Marisa Meet. Director Mario Bava's best.

Planet of the vampires has that type of special fx that looks like live action stage craft that you see in a play on stage and the result is a dream like illusion that lets your imagination and dread fill in the blanks. The 3 types of smoke is a cool detail that illustrates this; you know there's something different, you just don't know what. It's even more effective than CGI, IMHO. I like the focus on Bradford Dillman. Actors like him get little due. He's one of these actors that I nickname Sunday afternoon actors because I'd always see him on Sunday afternoon tv movies. On Bradford Dillman you know he had that something extra when he married the Super Model of the 1950's the beautiful Suzy Parker. Dillman met his second wife Suzy Parker on the set of Circle of Deception (1960, 20th Century Fox). They married on April 20, 1963 they had three children Dinah, Charles, and Christopher. Dillman became a widower when Parker died on May 3, 2003, following a long period of ill health that included respiratory problems, hip surgeries, and diabetes. He continued to live for many years in Montecito, California, and helped raise money for medical research. He died in Santa Barbara, California on January 16, 2018, aged 87, from complications of pneumonia.

Ridley Scott's "Alien" obviously was influenced by several films from when he was a kid, notably "Planet of the Vampires" and "It - The Terror from Beyond Space". Maybe even "Queen of Blood" and "The Angry Red Planet". All had plot devices that were rolled into the story of "Alien". James Cameron was also a plot-device rip-off artist, as he did with Harlan Ellison's "Demon with a Glass Hand" and "Soldier" episodes from The Outer Limits TV show. Both were combined to become "The Terminator". I saw PotV as a kid (under the title "The Demon Planet") and it scared the shit out of me. The scene where the dead crew members rise from their graves was the creepiest. Unfortunately when it is shown on TV they usually delete the sequence where Captain Markary explores the crashed alien ship, thus carving a big chunk out of the plot.

I enjoy watching these classics. There are two others, one stars Leo McKern as one who is killing opponents with a unique poison that makes them laugh before they die, he ends up a casualty at the end. Another one has to do with someone who makes drawings of people or places he's going to destroy, the end is you see him throwing his pictures out of the window as he drives away.

Thanks for letting me put a title to the movie. The title "Planet of the Vampires" was probably a more catchy title in 1965. From the perspective of taking someone's life and have them reurrect as sentient and evil being, "vampires" is more appropriate than "zombies". It has a couple of "Twilight Zone" type twists at the end which is cool.

There is an old Sci Fi movie I saw as a kid but cannot find. I don't know the name of it or who was in it. Probably made in the fifties. All I really remember is the whole cast of I think scientists, is stuck in a time loop in the end. It is set on Earth in contemporary time. I been watching these videos hoping to find it but not yet. Wish me luck.

@@terrytalksmovies That is the one, you are the man. I thought the lead scientist kind of looked like Walter Pidgeon, I checked his movies, I see it is Preston Foster. I thought I remembered it in black and white, well that was wrong, maybe we didn't have a color TV when I saw it? I was 12.

I love the films of Amicus. I'm a Hammer fan too. These studios were competitors both located in England (although Amicus was owned by two Americans). There are two Peter Sellers hidden gems. I'm Alright Jack and Never Let Go. Have you covered them?

I have Never Let Go on DVD. It bears the influence of Bicycle Thieves lightly and Sellers is a convincingly unpleasant baddie.

Apart from mentioning the jab., which really is the job of the medical professionals. I really like these videos. Two of my fave classics are "Village of the Damned" 1960 and "The Incredible Shrinking Man" 1957. Both I have seen twice in the last ten years, and in my humble opinion have stood the test of time.

Don't know what it's like where you live but where I live telling people to get the jab is an expression of care and concern. It's also in line with every piece of sane medical advice I've ever heard.

@@terrytalksmovies I am not an anti vaxxer and I resent that. I have taken previous vaccines. Terry you say you care and are concerned for your viewers, then why not spend more time using scientific backed up resources, instead of slipping it in what, 1 second? kind of almost in a subliminal sneaky way wouldn't you say. I know this channel is about movies, but?dude you started the dangerous vaccine propaganda here on your own channel. Like you I have a lot of time on my hands, enough to do my due diligence. I can back up anything I have said. Including this link right here from the UKGOV's own website. Citing 794545 vaccine injuries and 999 deaths assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1005197/COVID-19_vaccine_AstraZeneca_analysis_print.pdf. I put it to you, that you Sir are dangerous. This is not your field, leave it to the sane experts. Sorry I hadn't realised I stumbled on a vaccine injury denier. Thankfully there are other cult movie channels out there.

I LOVE Italian Science Fiction from the 1960s because they spent more money on the wardrobe than on writing and sets. The movies are universally "bad" (read Fun) but I wanted all those clothes. Thank you for unearthing all of these gems AND providing the links.

I remember when I first saw Planet of the Vampires. Two things stood out: 1) this was a clear inspiration for Alien; 2) the really awesome bit about the remote control having a leaking voltage that was nothing for the giant aliens but hard for the humans to use. And, Unearthly Stranger. I have never been able to get this movie out of my head since I saw it as a teen. I was reminded of it many years later when I saw Nik Kershaw's music video Wouldn't It Be Good. A clear reference, especially at the end, to Unearthly Stranger. kzitem.info/news/bejne/xIqCuntqf4Z_dYY
