I always smile when I see a Secrets of... video. Here in Berlin we have an Underground station called "Wittenbergplatz" that for some reason has a LU roundel logo on one of the platforms with the name "Wittenbergplatz" on it. I still don't know why. Might have to do "Secrets of the Underground" in Berlin myself ;)

Between Ruislip and ickenham on the Uxbridge branch of the Piccadilly is also a little known loop passing through Ruislip depot to Ruislip Gardens on the Central Line. It's only used by engineering trains. Also, one of the roundel nameplates at St james's Park on the District and Circle is spelt wrongly. The one on the eastbound platform was positioned too close to the exit stairs, and rather than reposition the roundel they deliberately spelt it wrong. It reads St James' Park instead of St James's Park.

Your information about Harringay isn't quite right. The original early 20th plans to build a tube station in Harringay would have seen the station built below the Great Northern Line. By the time the Piccadilly Line was extended in the 1930s the idea of a Harringay station was dropped to safeguard tube running times. The ventilation shaft you feature was never intended to be anything other than a ventilation shaft. Had the tube station been built in Harringay, the earmarked site was on the corner of St Ann's Road. I emailed the images, but figured it out now. The black and blue tile designs also appear at Blackhorse Road because they are inspired by William Morris. It is a recent but permanent installation by Giles Round called the Design Work Project, hence the DWP logo.

I used to get a late Piccadilly Line train home from work past that vent shaft after Manor House. You can hear the air pressure change as you approach it and regularly lots of dust got sucked into the front carriage of the train as it passed. The map at Greenford has recently been corrected, so no longer says Shepherd's Bush Green :( At Northolt (my local station) you can occasionally see something cool. Some Westbound trains terminate at Northolt (often in the mornings) and then go into a siding, just beyond the platform, between the Westbound and Eastbound lines. If you stand at the end of the platform, and wait a few minutes, you can see the driver enter the cab at what was the rear of the train and then switch the lights from red tail lights to white headlights. If you then wait a few more minutes the train will come into the station and you can get on a empty train with plenty of seats!

Geoff, There's one secret you haven't covered. As the Northern line doesn't appear to have any Network Rail connection nor a connection to any other Underground line, how and where do they get new trains onto the line and how did they get trains to Acton Works, when that was the major overhaul depot? I believe there's an underground connection to the Piccadilly line somewhere near Kings Cross. Is that correct?
