Self Directed Support (SDS) - When a person has been assessed as eligible for support there is a duty to offer four choices in relation to how support will be facilitated. 4 options as follows:
Option 1: Direct Payment to the individual, who can use in any way they choose as long as it secures the outcomes agreed between the person and their allocated worker as set out in their support plan
Option 2: Directing the available support - when an individual chooses their support and provider but the local authority or local organisation maintains the control of the budget. In order to make an informed choice, individuals should be made aware of all the resources that are available to achieve their support plan.
Option 3: Services arranged for the person by the local authority - budget and support is managing by the local authority in coordination with the individual.
Option 4: A mix of the three above
