University of Louisville Collegiate Chorale
Ethan James McCollum, student conductor
Max Bruch is by no means an obscure composer, at least in the instrumental world. However, his choral music is not nearly as celebrated, though he was regarded by his contemporaries to be a fine composer of choral music. The Sieben Lieder Op. 71 are for a cappella choir, and Morgengesang is the final piece of the set.
Text (author unknown):
Fern im Ost beginnt die Sonne
ihren Welterleuchtungsgang.
Lechensang und Erntewonne
sprossen ihrer Spur entlang,
