On the 24th of July when I lived in Utah, I'd remind all the Mormons I knew that this is the day they entered another country as illegal immigrants.

Hello mam! The news is interesting, I have a non mormon friend who moved to Utah this year. I believe in God, but certainly not the same understanding as the mormons. I would like to tell that Christ is real and of course does not support the sham that is the lds. Christ of Israel cares for you. I think your news is good. Thank you friend.

Omigoodness. I hadn’t consciously realised all those satan references. My TBM sibling has severe anxiety and depression and is constantly asking HF to help her fight all the Satan in her mind. Relying on the power of Jesus rather than seeking help

I did that for YEARS! Then I started reading self-help/psychology/therapy books and tried to find places that the scriptures or church teachings matched them, while telling myself I had just missed the references.

I taught my nephews and nieces the "Cricket Dance" from that musical I told you about! lol We are also having a HUGE Water Balloon Fight...it's literally gonna be cool! lol Dives shared your name on his Podcast with us but I won't share it with anyone here. I hope you have a Wonderful "Pie and Beer" Day... I'm gonna sneak away later this evening with my LGBT Friends and partake! Big Hugs!

That sounds like a blast! We water balloon our kids on the last day of school each year. A tradition we started years ago because of the coolest retired mormon couple ever. I'm sure if people google for five seconds they could find info about me, it's not too hard. At the same time, a little anonymity is fun. I want to partake with you and your LGBT friends, it will certainly be a good time. Happy pie and beer day!

Very different on the East Coast- I was one of only 3 kids that were members in my high school- my kids pretty much the same- only a handful of members in their district. No one ever asked about religion amongst their friendships

Wow! Another shocking part of mormon history that was embellished! I, too, was taught that Brigham Young and the early mormon settlers were the first to discover the Salt Lake Valley. How it was just a barren horrible valley! How the irrigation was diverted to make it bring life to the soil etc.

This was an excellent episode as always. Thank you. I just wanted to comment that when I joined the church in the late 1960s and went to BYU there was a tremendous Pioneer culture that made those of us who were not from a Pioneer background second class. Seriously! I remember one religion teacher who taught on several occasions that you should seek out someone from a Pioneer Family to marry because they were spiritually more elect. Since then I have come to embrace my own pioneer heritage. My ancestors were pioneers but just not in the Western United States. Yes they were colonizers but I have no control over that
