It's always been like that but has gotten way worse lately. Seems like nowadays nobody wants to talk to anyone who is not already in their tight-knit circle of friends and family. I have tried so hard to make friends to no avail. I live in Phoenix too where that's definitely the case. However I have lived in other States and cities and it's not much better. I lived in NYC for some years recently and IMO it's the worst. You are surrounded by millions of people but nobody cares.

The youngest group feeling lonely isn’t because marriage doesn’t happen until later in life. That’s absolutely not true. They’re still in relationships, but just not getting married. Loneliness is due to social media. It creates a disconnect with real in person relationships.

I am alone a lot, rarely lonely. My home is small and cozy; I think huge houses exacerbate loneliness, too many sf per person. Otherwise, in my age group people are financially stressed due to (unplanned early) retirement and most seem to be looking for someone to fix the problems for them. I worked two years in retail after retirement and was shocked how many men "interviewed" me for the job of moving in and rescuing their mortgage. Plus all the physical care of their "needs". Who applied? A male coworker explained the drill to me. Not enticing to this proposed victim, I prefer solitude. Desperation doesn't bring out the best, and likely isolates those who feel they need a meal ticket. Men are now living what used to be normal for all women... they should have compassion for how women suffered, but just seem to be angry and hate filled. Not enticing when a man wants to use you and spit on you at the same time. I had a good marriage and will not accept such nonsense, I know it is a recipe for misery.

True. Because hook ups are fleeting and disconnected. They’re brief in person connections that only last an hour or however long it takes them both to get to it, then you leave. You’re not developing something deeper with another person.

I disagree with that completely, because in the past there's still things, like rampant cheating, adultery, children out of wedlock still occurred. Women in the past stayed married to adulterous partners often for lack of resources or maintain a family unit. Even while many studies show women are far more forgiving to cheating than men are. It's basically submission of a woman that is desired or fulfilling her as a life-long companion.

In my case, i would rather listen to someone on KZitem discuss something meaningful than to listen to real life people talk about mundane things. KZitem has a vast and endless number of videos and interesting people to listen to, and you can have a chance to write comments in the comment section. I hate to say it but youtube is more meaningful than most face to face conversation. Some people prefer TikTok, but you get the idea. And i am probably not alone in this sentiment. And this phenomenon feeds off itself.

I'm not completely surprised but nonetheless there are antidotes for this loneliness. I think true connectivity with people is the answer. Authentic intimate relationships are the connection. If we come from troubled backgrounds we will attract the same in adulthood. The feeling of being lonely could be not feeling whole. Isolation equals loneliness equals illness. We have to go against our programming at times to find our true selves.

All of these social maladies go back to disobeying God. God's first command was get married and have children. Not have a cat/dog replacement, travel the world, live in a tiny home van lifing with a god/cat. This is why. We've turned into a society of disobedient to God, selfish people as outlined in Romans chapter one that people in the last days love would grow cold and they would become 4 footed animal worshippers (cat, dog, horse). That is why there are literally millions upon millions of hours of cat/dog videos on KZitem and lonely people. They refuse to read God's word and obey him, which starts with the very first command to not be alone(it's not good), to marry one man and woman and to have children. We are told in God's perfect word that children in a marriage are a reward from God. Nothing will ever compensate or fill that void. People that are selfish, self-centered and disobedient to God will be lonely and God said that is not good for man. No Christian should ever be of their own choosing to be in a childless marriage.
