This has to be one of Morrissey's greatest songs. It's so bitter and honest, a visceral kick against the pricks! What a shame Vini Reilly never played it live with him.

One of the best live formations ever. I know for a fact that Morrissey never had a better liver formation other that this one at least. Incredible live sound, wish I wasn't only 5 years old back when this was performed live.

Best Moz lyrics post-Smiths... A note upon his desk "P.S. Brrrring me home and have me" Leather elbows on a tweed coat Oh Is that the best you can do? So came his reply "But on the desk is where I want you" So I ask (even though I know) Were you and he lovers?

The Vini arrangement and playing just simply can’t be replicated. The grouping of them both was a great gift.

I LOVE this song. Some of Morrissey's most bitter lyrics. "Leather elbows on a tweed coat oh is that the best you can do?" OUCH!

I got into the Smiths and shared it in my little town school when my dad brought home a 78 sized record that was "hand in Glove" and was the Smiths.

I saw Morrissey back in ‘91 at the Greek Theater in Berkeley. I still remember how crazy the crowd was. The “mosh pit” took over the entire floor, and they were seriously more wild than Slayer or Iggy Pop or any other band that I’d seen at from that era. It completely took me by surprise. I stupidly thought a Morrissey audience would be somewhat introverted and/or mild mannered. Nope! Not at all…. 🤣

None of Morrissey's live guitarists even attempt to match Vini Reilly's playing on Viva Hate. That's just shows that Vini's solos on this tune cannot be touched by anyone Morrissey could hire to play it live.
