Is no one else going to mention the obvious? Irregardless of how much Morrisey was an iconic cult legend, (from the 80s & early 90s) this version of the song, with him singing in 2022, is awful. (or as Simon Cowl would say “Dreadful”) - If I didn’t see the video title, & if I heard the song with my eyes closed, I would think Joe Biden was singing this song.

Pretty lifeless band. The version from the Move festival in Manchester in 2002 is definitive.

@@nickjones2656 I agree about Manchester 2002. My main point in this video, was that: Morrissey sound like a very old dude in this video. (I wasn’t referring to the band’s possibly ineptness)

@@bimmeroo0906 Yes, I was just pointing out the obvious, that it seemed everybody else (most) was just ignoring, that Morriseys singing here, sounded awful. - Grace Slick from Jefferson Airplane / Starship, had it right when she said (sometime back in the 1980s) that she’s going to stop singing when she reaches a certain age. I forgot what age she said that was going to be. But she said (something to the effect) that: “no one wants to see an old fart singing and prancing around on stage.”

Morrisey is a good writer. But, his imagination seems to be linked to this idea that some sort of better Britain existed in the early 60's. It wasn't any better then than now.
