Thank you. The first time ever this song has been played live. It's incredible to think The Smiths never got to play any of Strangeways Here I Come live.

Morrissey, wow. I haved loved this man since I was 10 years old - for 30 years, in other words. Over the last few years, it's caused me much internal conflict, as his political views seemed to have moved towards the polar opposite of mine. When he's been such a presence for about three quarters of my life, though, it is hard to not stay interested. A man who is capable of pulling something as unexpected, and purely beautiful as this, though, is worth staying loyal to, musically at least. I will never be ok with Morrissey advocating for the likes of Tommy Robinson, and Anne Marie Waters, but I have friends who have very different political outlooks to my own, so I should see past Moz's views, and just love the music, I suppose.

@James Richards Why on earth do you feel you are in a position to assume what I do or do not know? I know enough about Robinson/Yaxley-Lennon and Waters to make my own judgements, I don't buy into 'MSM lies' - this is a cheap and over-used, easy to go to phrase, seemingly used to attempt to denigrate the view of someone with whom you disagree. Neither do I glorify Christopher Hitchens, for the record. The idea that you decided what a person you know only by a single comment on KZitem, does and does not know, and how that person forms their opinions, does not reflect well upon the validity of your comment.

For him to launch into this song and not do the ending, I might have killed myself on the spot. The outro, "Freedom/guile, I'll see you somewhere....darling" is one of my favorite moments in his entire life's work. He just casually walked away from the mic and didn't sing it. I would have been so utterly disappointed. I'm actually glad I wasn't there just for that reason.
