I'm so damn tired of all you people who never listened to any music from today beyond the Top 40 and then go in comment sections and complain "there isn't any more good and meaningful music these days", good music still exists if you know were to look for it. May I remind you the Smiths weren't exactly mainstream back in their day either. They had a certain pretty sizeable following and a couple of hits that made it high in the charts in the 80s, as well as a lot of charting albums, but overall beyond those couple of big hits, and the shows of one or two DJs that were somewhat more supportive of them, it was relatively rare to hear the Smiths on mainstream radio back in the day. They became more widely accepted and celebrated by the mainstream after they broke up than before. The likes of you people who never listen to any current music beyond what's on heavy rotation on mainstream radio would have probably not heard of the Smiths back then either. It's not that there's no more good music it's just that you are ignorant, and you proudly flaunt your ignorance.

TheVampireGirl48 You're talking about the ledgendary Vince Clarke? Who was around for a blip (just the 1st DM album) in their career, then they were churning out an album a year throughout the 1980's. 32 year old song but timeless. Could have been released last week and would've sounded just as fresh and interesting.

If this song were released brand new on the radio today, I'd fall to my knees in ecstasy, ecstatic that something so gorgeous could appear mainstream on radio....❤❤

Lyrics: Dear hero imprisoned With all the new crimes that you are perfecting Oh, I can't help quoting you Because everything that you said rings true And now in my cell (well, I followed you) And here's a list of who I slew Reggie Kray, do you know my name? Oh, don't say you don't Please say you do, (oh, oh) I am The last of the famous International playboys The last of the famous International playboys And in my cell (well, I loved you) And every man with a job to do Ronnie Kray - do you know my face? Oh, don't say you don't Please say you do, (oh, oh) I am The last of the famous International playboys The last of the famous International playboys In our lifetime those who kill The news world hands them stardom And these are the ways On which I was raised These are the ways On which I was, which I was raised I never wanted to kill I am not naturally evil Such things I do Just to make myself More attractive to you Have I failed? Oh Oooh, oooh, yeaah, nooo, nooo (pa ramp-amp-amp) Nooo, nooo, yeaah, yeaah, nooo (pa ramp-amp-amp) Nooo, nooo, yeaah, nooo, yeaah (pa ramp-amp-amp) Nooo, nooo, yeaah, nooo, yeaah Oooh The last of the famous International playboys The last of the famous International playboys

This is brilliant-one of his most barbed observational songs. It's got a great tune too.

One of the most talented songwriters ever. Can't think of anyone who lyrically mixes humour and social awareness so effectively.
