A playthrough of Acclaim's 1993 versus fighting game for the Sega Genesis, Mortal Kombat.
Played through on the medium difficulty level with Rayden. I also use code to enable blood - this happens at the end of the intro screen that talks about the word "code". No other cheats were used.
I had the SNES version as a kid, and a buddy of mine that lived a few streets over had the Sega Genesis one. We used to argue about which was better, and I'm still not sure. I like them both, but for different reasons. The SNES version looks and sounds awesome, but lacks the blood and the controls are too stiff.
The Genesis version looks like complete butt, most of the voices are missing, and the music isn't anything like the arcade version (even though the original music is pretty good), but it does include uncensored violence and the controls are a fair amount better. I think whichever I prefer depends on the day. Sometimes I want something that plays super fluidly and looks awful, other times I want to look at the good-looking one, even if it means I occasionally flub my special moves.
Hahaha, and so it seems that the argument that I used to have with my friend when we were 9 carries on in my head all these years later. Oh well. It's a fun and super nostalgic game if you remember it from way back - otherwise, you're probably better off sticking to one of the many available modern and arcade-accurate ports for modern systems.
