Word. The most part of these "spectators" is the people that don`t even listen at least one album of Mos Def but they have friends who can get you a pass on the battle (because battle is not for everybody, it`s a "close" event). Moreover, the ambiance and furnishing on the battle are differs from the concert - people come to V1 for dance battles, not for the music.

Correction its Vis A Vis - Obi Agei Mi Dofo Meaning "Someone stole my girlfriend" Recorded in 1977 lead Vocals by Anthony Yeboah. Both Vis A Vis and Alahji K Frimpong were on the same label Ofo Bros (Ofori Brothers) If you've noticed they have a similar sound, this was mainly because Vis A Vis Band featured on most of his albums. Check out Sammy Cropper and his Wire Connection (Lead guitarist) released in 1978 on Makossa Label Album title "Papa Akwasi" produced by A.K. Brobbey from Kumasi. He was also a Record dealer.

Mos Def(Yasiin Bey) is one of my favorites. He is authentic Hip Hop. They probably expected him to be the typical image they expected. He's not. So out of respect their listening. This makes performance even more exciting. He got them paying attention. He's coming from a spiritual aspect of the message of hip hop . This is a Brooklyn King.

It’s crazy watching Mos go through his creative process during this show, the way he finishes one song and blends into the next is incredible….it’s almost like he ends up there rather than planning to be there. Right around the 43:00 minute mark he hits this amazing stride and by 48:30 he’s literally spinning in circles like a top while the music crescendos. So dope, such an amazing talent.

My dads brother is best friends with a family that owns a venue. My uncle got tickets at the front table to every show, but probably rarely used them. So when my parents were in town they all decided to use them. Before the show they had lunch with Mos Def, who was probably more surprised to be seated next to an elderly couple. One of the things my dad said, did you know he has his own language?? lol my dad was so used to proper english he didn't understand slang all that well. but my mom and dad both commented that he was very very polite and asked a lot of questions and genuinely sounded interested.

@@bryanhayes4605 oh my gosh! Thanks for retelling that! I am enjoying to picture it so much! I think what is so touching is that it's clear from your story that your parents connected deeply to Yasiin (Mos Def) and he to them in a spiritual way, in the kind of way that is the basis for all music, for why we love him so much. I can imagine your parents are quite special and that it was a true recognition of mutual decency. 🥂
