Hey Tom and Lucy, loved this video! Always wanted to go to Mongolia and also do either the trans-Mongolian or trans-Siberian railway so this was definitely insightful! Was it lake Baikal that you were swimming in ? Just subbed to your channel and looking forward to more vlogs 😊👍

Hi Tan! Yes it was Lake Bailkal. We walked part of the Great Baikal Trail from Listvyanka to a little village called Bolshiye Koty. Would definitely recommend! We're now in SE Asia so will have a look at your videos for some inspiration!

Your comment is from 3 years ago, but if you haven't visited yet (and maybe when this covid thing finally passes) I suggest to spend a few days on the Olkhon Island in the Lake Baikal. Definitely a place worth visiting.

Great video. Thanks for sharing. Did you buy your train tickets as you travelled or you booked in advance. l want to do the trip from Vladivostok to Moscow but stopping in every stop for minimum of 2 days to soak into the culture.

Hey Naomi! We booked ahead as we were travelling in August, so a popular time. I booked directly through the Russian Railways website for all of the Russian train tickets (eng.rzd.ru/). It's a bit hard to use as despite the 'translate' option to English, some of it is till in Russian! It's good because you get to choose your seats. For the Russia- Mongolia leg we had to book through a tour operator as we were changing country but as you are travelling just through Russia, this shouldn't be a problem for you. If you are not travelling in high season, I'm sure you could buy tickets at the station when you arrive in each city, for the next leg of the journey. I hope this helps. All the best for your travels! Lucy
