Jeff Ruland I didn’t know much about you till 2K came out with the NBA Eras mode I got a froncourt of you and Mark Eaton😂 playing for the knicks… I watch how they portray your game on 2k and to now watch your highlights and see that you are truly a great player it sucks about the injuries but I definitely am now a fan 💪🏿 #Beefbros

Mr. Ruland, you were doing Arvydas Sabonis things before Sabonis! I was just a kid during your career, but I got to see you in Oakland vs. Sleepy Floyd, JB Carroll and World B Free early 80s.

As fate would have it, these two would be traded for each other in the summer of 1986. Jeff had foot and knee problems that pretty much killed the trade for the Sixers while Moses went on to average a double-double for four more years with Washington and Atlanta.

Ruland played 1 season in Barcelona before going to the Bullets, which is odd and remarkable... many american players came to Spain and Europe in general back then, coming out from college, without a chance of playing in the NBA with the hopes of making it some day... in that process they helped to improve our basketball

70sFan First I want to say thank you for this GEM!.... This 9 minute of footage STUNNED me!......But I did something after watching this video that STUNNED ME EVEN MORE which I will get too in a moment.... I had no clue Mr. Ruland could RUN LIKE THAT! I also had no clue he could DRIBBLE THE BALL THAT SMOOTHLY, OR PASS OFF THE DRIBBLE LIKE THAT ON A FASTBREAK!! It is hard to explain to the modern NBA fan of this 2020 era of NBA basketball fans that their were players in the 80s and 70s that possibly were better than players who have won MVPs in the last 5 years BUT WHO THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF! Case in point I think the 2 time MVP "the Joker" is a GREAT player.... I enjoy watching him play.....But it is a possibility Jeff Ruland may have been better than him especially if injuries hadn't destroyed his career...... I want to take this game as an example.of what I mean..... I decided to go research this game on Basketball reference, because By the end of the highlights it looked like MOSES was killing the Bullets.... I WAS SHOCKED TO FIND OUT THE BULLETS WON THIS GAME! AND JEFF RULANDS STAT LINE VERSUS MOSES! Moses 36 min., 9-19 from the field, 7-7 FTs, 15 rebounds (6 off.), 1 as., 1 st., 2 blks, 4 Tov, and 25 points....excellent game by Mr. Malone.... Check out Jeff.....40 min., 10-15 from the field, 17-20 FTs, 8 rebounds (2 off. Which he scored on interestingly enough) 3 ass., 4 st, 0 blks, 6 Tov, and 37 POINTS! Against the DEFENDING NBA CHAMPION 76ERS, playing head up against the REIGNING NBA FINALS MVP, REIGNING REGULAR SEASON MVP, and easily one of the TOP 7 CENTERS IN NBA HISTORY......Jeff Ruland DID HIS THING!( as we would say in the streets) I had no clue he had led them to a win like this....My context is this the Joker is not playing against HALL OF FAME COMPETITION at the Center level right now in the league.... The center position is so DEPRESSING to observe right now In 83-84 their were at least 6 Hall of Fame centers that Ruland had to deal with that rolls out my head....... Kareem, Moses, the Chief, Artis Gilmore, Bob Lanier, and Jack Sikma.....each one had their own unique style........I am convinced if Ruland doesn't get injured...... The 80s are MUCH MORE CHANGED, and a Hall of Fame invitation is waiting for Mr. Ruland...... Regardless though, When healthy Jeff Ruland is one of the BEST CENTERS TO PLAY IN THE LAST 40 YEARS EASILY!

Talk about your human bulls or horses, because I don't think there are better terms to describe Moses Malone and Jeff Ruland. Ruland was an athletic, quick version of Bill Laimbeer. If he didn't break his leg, he's probably in the Hall of Fame today. Good 76ers-Bullets game at the Capital Centre.

Ruland is a baller. As I told you there are ballers in every era… what do they lack? The passion and dedication required to be at the top. How can you blame young guys though?

Jeff Ruland was ahead of his time. I remember reading Barkley said they would find themselves just sit back and watching he and Moses going at it during practice it was so intense. Unfortunately, a centers knees are his lifeline. Still, two great players and great careers.

Washington Beat Philadelphia 94-90. Ruland had 37 points and 8 rebounds going 10-15 from the floor and 17-20 from the free-throw line. Moses Malone had 25 points and 15 rebounds. GAME RULAND!
