My boyfriend has a Mosin and it is a beautiful gun. One of the awesome things about it is that almost every piece of the gun has factory marks that tell you where and when that piece was made, if it was a replacement, who used it, and if it was a training weapon or saw service. I spent about an hour on a collector’s info paper while he and his stepdad were cleaning it and going through the pieces and I discovered his is pre-Soviet union but post WW1 with a replacement bolt (and I think stock because it was missing some marks as well as another replacement of a piece I can’t remember) that saw probably saw some service via imperial cavalry and was made in the Izhevsk factory. Before that I didn’t know that the guns themselves could tell you so much about themselves

With the current state of the relationship US and Russia, getting ammo for it is becoming more and more difficult to find at any reasonable price. $2-$4 a round is pretty ridiculous.

You know, I never really understood how zeroing worked, this video taught me something new. Also, what a darling little parcel those rounds came in.
@spicywolf6718
It's pretty simple. Aim at centre, fire and adjust to where the round lands. Fire at centre to confirm/adjust. Used to have my own range set up in a gulley and could comfortably sit on a 60x spotting scope and read 1/4" grid paper at 100 yards. The sled was adjacent so I'd only have to lean to the left to look down the spotter if I didn't have someone to call my shots. Once it's sighted at 100 then your scope will determine how you zero each distance. PSO-1 pattern for instance had a scale to determine distance and then the rest is maths.

I guess you’d considered that good shooting if you can’t shoot. That’s a HORRIBLE 100 yard group out of a 30 caliber rifle. That rifle should group sub 1” at 100 yards even at its age. Rifle can reach well out past a mile with accuracy and deadly results if you’ve a good optic on it that can adjust that far out. Either this dude can’t shoot, or there’s something SERIOUSLY WRONG with the optic or the barrel.
