The engine is a two cylinder, two stroke design! Burns approximately 6.5 gals/hour while hovering and 4.5 gal/hr at normal cruise (55 mph). This Compact Radial engine (model MZ 202) cost approximately $5,500 new. The 500 hour overhaulkit for the helicopter is priced at $5,000 (engine overhaul components included)!

Jump on the lathe, machine a shaft 62mm(very accurate no over that size, from 61.99 to 61,97) and long enough to hold on the crankase for half of the lengh (half crankshaft). Now pull apart your engine, bolt just the case on the shaft that you machined, and with a dial indicator look if is running true just spinning the chuck by hand. If you have bad vibration something is not straight, Those are smooth engines if they are machined correct.

If you just replaced the crankcase and you still feel bad vibration it is because your crankshaft it is bent. You can check it between 2 edges or centers.If you keep going, you will deform the bore where sit the bearings. 1 check if your cranckshaft is straight, 2 check inside the case if the bore is still in tolerance. Shoul be between 61.95 to 61.97mm. If is over this size, ahi ahi ahi ahi........

Fuel and oil mix is around $25 per hour plus $10 per hour for mechanical components, total operating cost is a little over $35 per hour. Very small for a helicopter! The Mosquito XEL basic cost is approximately $40,000.

You will start slowly to bend the crankshaft after a while if is not in the right case.You can t have assistance just because the company that produce them will never tell nobody that they fucked up to machine the bore that goes through the case. I was working for that company and I m the guy that discovered the problem and told to leon how to fix it.EVERY engine with the serial under 11000 is not good, is out like 0.2-0.3 mm.

What is the operating cost per HR on the gas engines? They are two cylinder 2 strokes correct?
@andreamiglio6438
11 жыл бұрын
Hi, check the serial number of your engine, is wrote under the pulse pipe on the crankcase. If the number is under 11000 probaly you should check if your cranckcase it is straight because you can bend all the cranckshaft. Should be under warranty from the company.

From the stick movements in hover and transition, it seems well behaved. Any stabilization systems for YAW on this? Probably not on so small an aircraft....just straight control throws from rudder pedals to tail pitch spindle? It sure has some cyclic shake going on transitioning into forward flight, and then at end spooling down the rotor....Blades balanced, tracked and then also CG of each blade balanced? If not CG blade balanced, surely source of shake...unless blades slipping at the root.

That's not a drone. It's a plane with a pusher prop that has plastic wrapped around it for protection. It is either for winter and the don't put it in a hangar, or they just want it protected.
