I upgraded from an old Big Anges Insulated Air Core to the EitherLight XT. I have never slept so well on the trail as I do now. The EitherLight XT is a little load/crunchy but damn, it so, so comfortable.

Love my Ether Light Extreme. I got the womens version since those dimensions fit me well. Kept my toasty in the smokies at 22*F with my 20* quilt. Packs bigger than I'd like, but I'll make the concession for the warmth and comfort.

It's absolutely a balance of comfort and pack size and what you can sacrifice from on to the other. Thanks for the feedback on the extreme. We were going to stock them but the pack size was so large that we ended up going with EXPED instead because their pack sizes are slightly smaller and are a known good mountaineering pad.

Good review. I feel like the Aether light would compare to the q-core SLX though and the Aether light extreme would compare with the q-core deluxe.
@MotoCampNerd

You're right that the Ether Light and SLX are more on the same level BUT the Etherlight is the top pad from Sea to Summit currently and the Q Core Deluxe is the top pad from Big Agnes and these were the 2 best pads we had in stock at the time. The extreme packs too large to be really moto friendly and R value is higher than the Q Core Deluxe. If I put the SLX and Etherlight head to head, The etherlight would be the best of those 2 without a doubt.

As a reasonably willowy (US s6) woman of 5,9", 190cm in a pad or cot is always perfect for me, with a pillow, & 25in is usually a comfy enough width; it's not like the surfboard pad dimensions, where you have to lie straight as a pin to not wind up on the ground, I _can_ move around a little (I generally still have to wake up a bit to roll over, but you've gotta cut for weight _somewhere_ ). But I can 100% get how broader folk would be excited about a 30" pad (especially for a similar price). Particularly one with "guard rails", to help them stay on it, fighting that particular age-old problem. Now - aside from the obvious & existing issue of financial accessibility - people who want that option only have to consider whether their shelter situation meets the basic space requirements. Aside from that, there's nothing stopping them from having it. On the element of height, & quilted/"tufted" baffles, I think it's kind of cool how we've gotten to a point of technology where hiking pads are affording for their price, not only the obvious weight savings over a traditional, bulky airbed, but also now legitimately _comfort_ - which was so long the trusty airbed's primary claim over it - as well. What a time to be alive. 🥳

That Q-Core looks so comfortable! I'm using a NeoAir XLite and it's noisy and narrow. Ok for backpacking, but thinking I might want a little more luxury for motocamping. Thanks! I will definitely consider one of these.

The Q core and Ether Light are both 2 of the quietest on the market. Make sure to check out Backcountry Adventure Motorsports video review of the Q core deluxe vs the others to get a good comparison too. And don't forget to snag your military discount if you shop with us.

Another option is an Exped Synmat. I have the Dura 5R LW. 77.6"x25.6" with an R value of 4.8 and weighs 35.6 oz. Includes inflation bag that doubles as a dry sack. That Big Agnes one is nice but the inflation bag is too thick for easy use. Sea to Summit has better inflation bag but is too noisy for me. Like a bag of chips.

The q-core is 25" wide, and the standard Ether Light is 20" wide. However, there is a 25" wide version of the Ether Light XT, I believe.

The Q-Core Deluxe we originally stocked is the 30" extra wide model. We now stock the Q-Core Deluxe in both 25" and 30" wide. When we first got inventory of Ether Light XT, we only stocked the 25" wide large version.We have various sizes of the Ether Light on order but still waiting for Sea to Summ to get them.

Is there a weight limit for the big agnes Insulated Q-Core Deluxe you know of?

Not that I know off. I've seen previous reviews of bigger people upwards of 400lbs using them and never having a problem. I'll reach out to Big Agnes and see what they say.

@@OldCootProductReviews They could not confirm a max weight rating to the pad. So I'd say roll with it and if something happens it has a lifetime warranty. They use RF welding on their pads so the material would rupture before the seam would.

How easily do they go back in the stuff sack? That’s the most important haha

Good question. Easy enough I forgot to add it to the video, lol. Seriously though, I always roll up the mat without folding, to get all the air out first. Then I unroll it, fold it properly, and then roll up again and there was plenty of room to put it back into the stuff sack, for both. Not a super tight roll either.

Is the q-core comfy? I’m looking for an extra wide and thick sleeping pad for both car camping and backpacking but The q-core is one of the only 30 inch wide pads. Just curious how comfy it is so I don’t waste $250 lol

It's my personal favorite from all the others we have tried. The extra wide and thick pad makes it easier to sleep on without worrying about trying not to fall off in the middle of the night. Also it pairs great with the Diamond Park sleeping bag. These are our best selling pads above all others.
