If you’re a student going to college then you should pick full time because Amazon allows students to reduce their time to 30hrs. So you can “work full time/40hrs” but then every semester submit a school exception req & reduce your time to 30hrs per week. You get all of the full time employee benefits & you get to work less hours ;). You also get to customize the schedule however you like with those 10hrs to take off your shift. & if you have class on your OT day you can get an exception to get out of OT or reschedule it or adjust OT.

@PhantomGanhdi

@@barzotti25 You have to fill out the "School Accommodations/Schedule Adjustment forum" that is on a to z. You will find it near the bottom in the resources section. You also have to be at amazon and do it on one of the computers their on the amazon network. You will need a screen shot of your class schedule showing your classes with the start and end times, the start and end date, and with your school name and emblem at the top of the page. If you work a normal 40hrs per week shift then you can take away 10hrs for school, so you only work 30hrs per week during the semester. They should get back to you and update your work schedule within a week of you submitting the forum on a to z. They will also send you an email if there is a problem to your personal email that you used to apply to amazon.

I work for a mechanical contractor that’s currently building a Amazon warehouse in Denver and the reason you don’t see duct for AC is because there are hundreds of smaller air handling units that blow the air directly out of the unit instead of a few larger units that utilize duct to disperse the air. Those giant fans help circulate the chilled air too tho.

Ayyyyyee my question made the cut!! Glad to see that you’re out here helping people learn more about the position. Interesting answer to the question I asked about if it’s worth it, but that pain piece definitely makes sense. So every 2 years you can try to move up the ladder at the FC. Do you see that happen often? For ex. For the area manager position, you need a degree OR 2 years experience at amazon.

I recently quit, because I am a college student (senior) and they are starting in the fall. Amazon warehouse is not very lenient with what schedule you can work, plus I don't know if I can have energy for other work. I managed to find an insurance job that doesn't require a degree, anyone looking into this I would recommend it because since there is covid they will let you work for 6 months without a cert. Anyways, I was lucky to find a job, anyone looking I would recommend zip recruiter or linkedin. Also, before you join amazon, realize that any higher payed position requires minimum 2 years employed or a bachelors, everything else is slavery like I would say. Anyways good luck to you and stay blessed!

My warehouse is SO different. It's a non-sort center and huge. It's mostly on the chill 🥶side which is great until you start freezing up after lunch. Some of us have to find a warm area to warm up, without being on TOT (time off task). I drive a PIT for 10 hours, picking in the VNA, Wide, barrels, and in the library. Being on the PIT is fun BUT....... can be tiresome IF you have horrible shoes on (walking shoes is the best and should cost about $90 to $150 for good support). However, training is horrible at my center - 🤦🏻♂️ they will allow you to make tons of mistakes and THEN give you coaching and THEN training - ass, backwards. The job is easy and 👉🏼 quality matters MORE than rates. In other words, your first scan SHOULD be green and O errors - like scanning a wrong barcode, the wrong box, the wrong bin number. I feel sorry for the people who have to work in receiving, the dock, and pack and ship - those areas are noisy, very warm, fast pace, and non-STOP work.

So I might of resigned on the first and took what was my official last day off simply because I was super stressed driving PIT (Raymond Order Picker lift.) but I'm conditionally rehired as Fulltime seasonal. for a new FC. I really hope i'm put on FC Picking off robots and some possible cart pushing/tote carrying. I plan on doing my best to be brought on as an non-season worker. My pay is going to be like 1.05 per hour less and shifts are going to be 10 hours but I'm more then happy to take those losses. My fear of heights isn't what did me in, it's the fear of slowing down all the other's who order pick as well. That and fear of crashing into racks or god forbid another PIT. Crashing a multi-thousand dollar machine is not something I wanted to experience enough though I'd think they'd be alright-ish at the low speeds 90+% of workers were on due to being new hires like myself.

@@NFZProductions the pressure from the job in and of itself wasn't that intense and there were rules to cutout free for all chaos. If some picker is in the aisle you just pull into, they have 5 picks. Stowers get 3 stows and the sitdown forklift op's who load in product pallets or something like that get 1. If people need to do more they just have to come back around which isn't hard. Maybe in a few years Amazon can automate the order picker lifts for the stowers and pickers most aisles did have wire guidance and all Very Narrow Aisles did and you had to active it in those. Those can be fun as in those you can move forward while going up or down. Backing up you could only do a single item (pallet) space. For all my stress it was still a worth while experience to be a part of. Without PIT drivers much like truckers Amazon couldn't exist on the scale that it does.

Hi there! I really like your videos! I am thinking of applying to Amazon as a second job, so it would be part time. Can you possibly explain the differences between the jobs that can be done in the warehouse? I’ve seen your video of stowing? Do the items you receive have a particular number on them and then you just match it up with the automated yellow bins? I guess I’m just trying to establish if the work is easy or not and i will base my decision on whether to apply or not, on the different job types available and what’s required in them. I hope you can help me? Thank you! :)

Hey thanks for the support! And yes there are different types of warehouses. I work in an FC but there are also delivery stations and sortation centers. What you saw me do was stowing and you can choose where you want to put the item. And as for the other locations, they do different things. I did an interiview with someone who has worked at a delivery and sortation center and he describes what goes on in there. So perhaps take a listen to that if you want to know!

Full time & I think part time employees too get after 1yr the tuition reimbursement. Amazon will pay for you to get an associates degree or certificate in in demand fields like IT or some programming courses. They pay up to 95% for class & 95% for books. Then like I commented on another video after 2yrs you can apply to be an Area Manage (Level 4) without a degree.

Ty for these videos! They're super helpful. :) The closest Walmart I applied for won't hire me even though a dear friend of mine works there and had suggested me to the hr manager who is very picky. It's legit 1 mile away from my house. Amazon was the next choice since they just built it a little pass the Walmart, which is 8 miles away from where I live. I start this Thursday from 7:30 a.m to 6 p.m. I am hoping to work here at least a year, if not a year 6 months at the most or until I'll be able to work at that Walmart. Doing it to help my Mum and Gram as well as to get my degree for Illustration.

Heeey! What an informative video man. Thanks a lot for your work! I've been considering this job and I actually have 2 warehouses plus Amazon Air about 25-30 mins away here in SoCal. I'd like to know if days off are all in a row or they're not consecutive? I used to work for an airline so I do have stamina for 12 hr shift but I also like to travel a lot so is that possible to get 3 or 4 days in a row for a trip out of town? At the bottom of your screen there's button "Un-scanable Item" tap it and it will give you the instructions as what to do. You actually have a tote on the other end where you put such items and then scan the tote, that's how the system will know where that item is. Another worker will come over and empty the tote...

Can you explain TOT and how to not get points while in the warehouse, I sometimes feel paranoid about being longer than 3 minutes in the restroom or refilling my water jug.
@NFZProductions
4 жыл бұрын
TOT is just task off time. And its the average time you take to stow each item. And ideally amazon wants you to have a TOT of about 12 seconds +/- 1 second for a stower. And if you use the restroom your TOT for say 5 minutes (including walking time) then thats 300 seconds between items so its going to throw off your TOT average. So try to limit these long breaks

I'm 7 months pregnant right now. My question is.. given your experience working there, is this an okay job for a pregnant chick to work for a couple of months? Is there team work? I really am not sure what to expect. Thanks!
@NFZProductions

Hmm there is not team work at all. But it just depends on your economic status. And obviously I can't really relate to the difficulties that pregnancy may bring to labor intensive work, but I'd recommend to either do this job part time if you really need a source of income, or do not try to work a labor intensive job such as this one.

I work full time at Amazon for the last year as a stower and it is an extremely taxing job in your body, especially your legs and feet. Same in other positions such a picker, packing, slam, dock, etc. If I were you, I would stay away from this job until after you have the baby and you are 100% again. Congratulations by the way!
