I love the S95B I Game and watch movies and it’s perfect. The best oled I have ever seen in my life. I don’t like that it is too bright though so I lower everything since I game in a dark room. What I don’t like is the new firmware tht messed up the TVs Samsung has not released a patch yet. So I think when I upgrade next time I’ll be going back to LG. Which I was always loyal too. Wanted to try Samsung this time around. But it’s beautiful and great for Gaming and watching movies from external streaming Apple TV. I don’t watch live sports of over the air TV, so that wasn’t a need for me. Another factor that wa a important was that all 4 hdmi ports are 2.1 120hz 48gbs capable which it great for getting the highest fidelity in gaming and external streaming devices (Apple TV, Fire Stick, etc) that is worth the price of admission alone. Also choose warm2 on settings to get rid of blue and achieve true whites for gaming and movies. Love this TV

*I can't believe I forgot to mention this in our conversation at the end!! One thing that really impressed me with were this TV's internal speakers. They are among some of the best I've heard on any TV. You even got a sense of sounds overhead which is rare.*

This is true, they really aren't bad at all. I specifically decided on getting the q990b because I wanted something with qsymphony as I felt the decent speakers were being wasted. I will say my Sony with the sub and sound actuators built in are better (the tech really awes me how well it works), but considering how much lighter this TV is and lacking the massive rear panel it is impressive. If they were horrible I wouldn't have considered qsymphony being a benefit so good marketing decision here on them as they really fill out the sound. Truthfully, even a budget samsung soundbar or just one with any sub would make this TV leagues ahead of most mid range and even some upper range soundbar imo just because of qsymphony and the built in speakers. I'm kind of sad since my Sony oled isn't a new model it lacks this compatibility with sonys new bars. I have it set up to use built in speakers and also output to optical simultaneously to some bose speakers with a sub to fill it out which does work pretty well as long as your ok without atmos. I tried to get this to work with the s95b, but It didn't play well with it like the Sony does, i wasnt able to get sounds to sync and it always sounded off or like there was an echo. I gave up and decided I wanted atmos. So...

Finally someone speaks the truth. A calibrators biggest hurdle is convincing people the bluish, high contrast image they think is great, isn’t accurate. Samsung are only the World leader in sales due to the advertising and marketing budget, not their quality of product (although some of their products are fine). Great point on the skin tones. Cheers

I've recently purchased this TV and I absolutely love it. I'm still in the return window, but I couldn't imagine wanting to. It's my first oled, so brightness was a concern over my past year of researching potential models. This TV is bright, punchy, and the colour is beautifully saturated due to the quantum dot layer. Tizen sucks for sure, but purchasing a 4k firestick will fix that. I feel like perhaps the model you received was a dud? This TV won second place in the annual TV shootout, and watching mine, I certainly see why. Just wanted to give my 2 cents for anybody who's now having second thoughts about purchasing the S95B. Thanks

I also just purchased it thinking the same - he must have had a bad example. But this isn't my first OLED, and the colors on this thing are horribly off OOTB. Sure it looks super bright and punchy if you turn on contrast enhancer, peak brightness, etc it will look super bright and colorful and punchy, but it will be a totally jacked up inaccurate picture. Compared to my old LG CX it looks worse, and dimmer in Filmmaker mode.

Hi guys, I’ve had the Samsung S95B for a couple months now and am a life- long Samsung person… I’ve owned All the top Samsung LCD/LED TVS from the last 6 years or so…. The S95B is a Tremendous 4K tv …. The absolute TRUTH is it’s made for 4K Sports and 4K Gaming first and foremost! It upscales 720P just ok but it’s not great… it upscales 1080I very well! You can calibrate it to look awesome for Cinema BUT it’s not made 100% for cinema…. It’s Brightness, Picture Uniformity, Color Saturation and Pop are like NOTHING I have ever seen in my 53 years on the planet. The motion is perfect as long as you keep motion smoothing turned OFF! Again it’s made for 4K Sports and Gaming … It’s totally 3 Dimensional and Flawless in 4K… it looks like the Best QLED EVER MADE! It has its own look for sure! I personally couldn’t care less about accuracy… that’s NOT MY THING! Side viewing angles are UNREAL TOO…. It’s inexpensive as well…. Have Fun with it and enjoy

It’s not the best QD OLED ever made, because the Samsung S95B build quality is absolutely appalling and it doesn’t have Dolby Vision. This TV is better value for money compared to the overpriced Sony A95K, but the A95K does feel like a premium product. Also the brightness of the S95B makes you lose detail compared to the A95K too, but the Samsung S95B is better for gaming. The Sony is the superior TV for watching movies due to it having better motion handling and the best picture quality due to it’s more accurate colours. QD OLED is early in it’s infancy, and personally I’m waiting to see what comes out in the Spring next year, because the Sony is a well built TV that’s lacking in a few areas, and so is the Samsung, but the S95B build quality really concerns me, as it feels very flimsy and doesn’t feel built to last.

If you can get the Samsung S95B with one of Samsung's multiple Offer Programs including Employee, Education, Healthcare, or Military discounts, it wins hands down from a price to performance standpoint. I just picked up the 65" S95B for $1260 +tax direct from Samsung within the last week as a Healthcare worker. Compare that to the current sale pricing of $3000 Sony A95K, or $2000 LG G2, or even $1700 LG C2 and you'll be hard pressed to find better deals than what Samsung has to offer. I have a 42" LG C2 setup as a PC monitor and I love it as well, but price is definitely something that needs to be taken into consideration when truly comparing these different TVs.

I had the Sony A9G Oled and my A95 QD Oled side by side for over a month. I prefer the A9G with the LG panel better overall. There’s something about that black, glossy screen that adds a richness to the image that the A95k can’t quite match. For 90% of viewing, the A9G is every bit as bright and highlights exceedingly well. Haven’t noted the color volume superiority of the A95k as of yet. Both calibrated.

I own the S95B in both 65 and 55 inch, and yes when the brightness is dialed up you get that black crush as well that digital look. I calibrated my models to a natural image where it's not too bright not too dim. That. being said this tv rocks in terms of sharpness and color. Samsung gives you the option for “Professional Calibration” using the Smarthings app and a compatible phone. I would be interested to see Andrew’s take on this feature which obviously no other manufacturer provides. Having said this, this set seems to give you the choice of bright and punchy or completely reference and obviously multiple settings in between. Samsung products of even a year ago could not be calibrated perfectly and now they can be. Why can they not get the credit for this? So why are we all arguing? You can choose what you get out of this TV or even if you move it into different rooms and use it for different purposes. The technical advantages are certainly there and you can take advantage of them if you’d like. The technical prowess of this set and the price it’s able to hit as a “first gen” product is unbelievable. I think based on the competition it added to the market and the way it shook the OLED market, it is easily the “most hyped” TV of the year and rightly so. I think it’s also fair to say if a consumer is in the market for an OLED TV, they almost never use 720p as a signal input. It is always 1080i or 1080p at minimum and the Samsung does a much better job upscaling from that resolution and it’s much close to the Sony this year. Also not enough people are taking the time to look at the flexibility of Samsung settings for motion and shadow detail. Under Picture Clarity settings, you can change the settings to custom and control the amount of blur and judder compensation you want or turn it off completely. I have a feeling this is contributing to Andrew and Kristi’s take on the set looking “unnatural” And there was a lot of subjective talk in this video but no mention of WRGB OLED having a huge problem with black crush and this TV and A95K completely solving it.

Obviously, you never heard of the F8500. There's been several Samsung TV'S that was perfectly calibrated to D5600K. Stop lying to the people. The S95B could be calibrated to a perfect D5600K as well. However, most owners wouldn't want to sacrifice the color brightness to do so. The punch of color on the S95B is what separates it from its competitors. The LG brand is right up there with Samsung in color punch and brightness.

First time coming across your channel, and I whole heartedly agree with your assessment. I've had the LG C2 for a couple months now, and decided to pick up the S95b about a week ago, mostly due to the price going way down and because of the extra brightness. I have terrible night vision, so the brighter the screen the better. My first 2 or 3 days with the S95b was like bringing home a newborn baby - Wow, look at it, it's bright and the colors just pop. I absolutely love the added brightness, and the saturated colors look awesome at first, especially when playing XSX. But after the first few days, I just kept thinking, "this looks OFF a little bit", then I headed down the path of trying to get a "real" looking picture out of it. I think I have it dialed in to where it needs to be, but have noticed that in doing so I had to get that brightness and saturation down a lot. Now when I A/B against the C2, the brightness is almost the same. Granted, I have TPC and GSR turned off on the LG, so that helps on it, but still. I still think it's a great TV, and the brightness is certainly nice to have, no doubt about it. But, after the newness has all worn off, I'm back to preferring my C2, by a small margin. It's not so much the QD OLED vs OLED part, it's the TV as a whole. I prefer WebOS over Tizen (first time using Tizen, not a fan, not at all), and my s95b has a slight bend that's more obvious across the top portion of the panel than the bottom. It doesn't inspire confidence when you see things like that. I also prefer the LG magic remote over the Samsung remote. None of these are a big deal on their own, but they all add up and make for a different experience when using these TV's. But to keep it real, all of these TV options we have lately are really nice. Pick the one that "speaks" to you and don't look back.

The best OLED TV for 2022 hands down is the Sony A95. Samsung's build quality leaves a lot to be desired as the TV bends when you have someone help you lift it and Samsung doesn't know what they are doing with their software updates as one update completely changes the TV and the next ruins it. If money is no object and you want the absolute best without having to tweak the picture settings out of the box Sony A95 is the one. A close second is LG C2 and I would place Samsung S95B in third place for the best 2022 TV's

As someone who has used Sony tvs for a long time, but loved this 2018 Samsung Q8fn...I can say the S95b isn't as sharp as my q8fn, but I still think it looks better than my Sony 900e and A9G. The S95b does have a softer picture overall which makes no sense and the blacks in gaming differ from game to game, but I prefer this tv over the dimness of my 900e and A9g. The cinematic look of Sony's are great and all, but I do like the artifical 3d look the Samsungs produce. And that cinematic look isn't ideal for gaming. But I definitely prefer the q8fn as the picture is more consist. S95b can go from great to meh depending on content.

The S95B is perfect if you want an inaccurate but impressive looking image. After watching The Mandalorian or GOT:HOTD in HDR on a calibrated Screen I really started to think critical about the whole "creators intend" thing, because the HDR mastering of this shows are a complete garbage. They really seem to be not to care about it, so why should I care about it? Many other shows just want to have the HDR/DV Label in netflix or disney+ and so they just wrap their SDR content in a HDR container and that leads to the fact that even if your TV is set to max-brightness it looks like if it is intended to watch in a pitch-black room. On the Samsung in Standard-Mode dynamic tone mapping kicks in and both shows look good again, even in a bright room, were on the calibrated TV in Filmmaker Mode both shows are extremely dim, even with max brightness. My conclusion of this: Having a calibrated/accurate image makes only sense in a real home-cinema environment where you only watch Movies without any form of ambient light and this is mainly because the issue with the HDR brightness in the extremely conservative mastered HDR shows/movies. If you just want to have a TV which delivers a stunning image in all kind of scenarios, the S95b delivers that. And I think this is also Samsungs intend.

So I bought the A95k better image quality and the Panasonic LZ200 Master pro oled , which has better processing than any sony tv, my opinion though, sony isn't the best at processing its Panasonic but you can't go wrong with either that's why I bought both .

First, I would like to congratulate you guys on hitting 300 thousand subscribers. Yours is a great channel. Now, to be honest this is the first time I've heard of the Samsung S95B OLED. Either that or I haven't been paying attention. Now that my Disney World trip has come and gone(which caused me to mostly miss your live stream last week, I did check in, while at Epcot) I can get back to finishing out equipment for my theater room and 2 channel room. I've been looking to get an LG C2 (my first OLED) for the 2-channel room primarily for my Xbox Series X and PS5, along with a HiFI Rose RS250 streamer and Reavon 4K disc player for the theater. I have a question about your dislike of Samsung's one connect box. I don't have any experience with it, but I always figured it was a cool solution to keep from having a bunch of wires going up the wall for those that hang their TVs. What don't you like about it?
@andrewrobinsonreviews
Жыл бұрын
The one connect box doesn't really cut down on wires because you are replacing potentially robust power & HDMI cables with an extremely fragile fiber optic cable that Samsung even warns customers against putting inside a wall. So that's problem #1. Secondly, the box is the size of a standard component which you now have to find room for or a way to hide it. Keep in mind, because it relies on that fiber optic cable, should you need a longer one, Samsung only makes one other size and they're going to charge you for it. Lastly, in theory, the idea behind the box is that Samsung could offer consumers upgradable performance by swapping out the box but to my knowledge, this is something they've never done despite marketing it this way for years.

My S95B is awesome, when I figured out how to boost the brightness in the service menu it got even better, the true benefit behind this panel isn't just brightness though, it's color gamut coverage, over 90% compared to LGs WRGB OLEDs meager 76%, I'm seeing colors on mine I've never even had the pleasure of seeing in person, easily destroys every single LG OLED out there, including the G2 (even confirmed by the 2022 tv shootout this year) the best PQ I've ever seen in my life, I'd imagine only the A95K even comes close, but hardly worth the $1000 more for the negligible difference between the 2, and for gaming, Jesus it's a straight window into the gaming world, I normally respect your opinions, but you undersold the hell out of this tech

I used to be a Samsung 'person' and still am for my tablet but my last TV purchas two years ago was the 4k Sony Bravia 65" 950h. It simply out performed the Samsung model. Today, there are at least 5 TV manufacturers you have to check out or you may be coming up short. This exemplifies the great things that can happen with competition. And we benefit. I love things just keep getting better even with the sometimes misses. Things move so fast in the industry that you can almost be certain that the miss last year will be long gone by the following year. I did shoot fuji velvia - which as a super rich look ( saturated colours ) - I suppose some people like more salt , or more sugar - some less - I still have a plasma - so no hurry for me - still love the SDR colour accuracy - only run it at 55% brightness ( to be fair - not sure how far I could push brightness to maintain accuracy ( maybe 60-70% ) . So I'm in for a real treat when I upgrade - Sammy will improve next year + 77" to boot . I get Panasonic in my country so very lucky -Panasonic LZ2000 and LZ1500 go 1000 nits( 10% ) with near 100% accuracy

The main issue with the S95B is that adjusting the picture settings is next to impossible. You can play with the brightness, contrast settings, white color balance, and gamma and try as much as you like--I've been doing so for close to a week, and also run endless calibrations. You will either end up with a super-bright, crushed blacks image that is not cinematic or a super dim and dark image. I keep reading that this crushed black problem is not in the Sony TVs, and I also see in the many product videos that the Sony A95K has a tone curve - that would solve the problem. I am returning my S95B as many movies and TV programs are unwatchable or unenjoyable, and that was the main purpose of having a nice OLED TV.

Yet, sure enough I could spot the violet shades of white in the first 30sec of the video.

Great review. I have owned the s95b since launch, as well a few generations of lg oleds (c2, cx, b9) and while for me the picture quality (gaming being the primary use case) of the s95b is the best overall, literately everything else is better on any iteration of the LG. Tizen is laughably bad, like its honestly a joke when compared to the 2019 B9. Not to mention the latest firmware released for the s95b which essentially busted VRR to the point of it being almost unusable for gaming.

Truth. And yet while it sounds like a balanced comment, since the bottom line *is* the picture quality, in the end both you and I put up with the crappy software for the sake of the top tier visuals. As long as one knows what they're doing-such as not allowing their TV to receive broken firmware-their reward is the best they can get, full stop. Would it be nice if the software worked great? Sure. Ball's in LG's court so I hope they make it count.
