I know, right? It's the one field where there is never any need for exaggeration to impress. I love PBS's crash course in astronomy on youtube -- the presenter is really interesting and his love of astronomy is infectious.

Thanks, I enjoyed the series. So much great science is gained from what are also very beautiful images. Having observed SN 1987a with my Celestron 5" less than a day after its discovery (it was yellowy, naked-eye visible, and its brightness was still on the rise), and followed it since, it was nice to see the relatively recent image of it and the artist's reconstruction in 4k.

well, in 2019 they discovered that a neutron star formed in SN 1987A. it was hidden in a clump of dust so thats why it was hard to find at first.

@wayne long If we did have a blue star it would have gone supernova long before the conditions for even simple life existed on earth. Those stars just don't exist long enough for anybody to be able to see them up close.

@10:15 the ring looks exactly like an experiment Devon did on the channel "smarter every day" he did it with two colors of ink in a fish tank. man it looked so similar
I didn’t know Hubble takes photos in Black and white they later go back to the photos and add color

Ah the new KZitem where ads kill the ambiance of the video. Here's a way to kill those ads. Whenever you see that yellow dot sometimes you can rub your finger over it a few times and the ad disappears. Something I'm sure KZitem don't want you to know.
