I never took my career seriously and I haven't had a real job since 2007, this information just gives anxiety & guilt to people, there is no rush. The only thing stopping people from being successful is their social skills and networking. Music industry is a people business, not a hard work business. This video made me realize that I’m the 90% forreal. I tell people that I want to do music full time and I do make music for fun, but plan on taking it serious. I know virtually nothing about the music industry and I do about a few of these things on the 10% and 90% section. Fresh out of hs, I should be focusing more on music but I don’t. This is very superficial. I won't say it's false, I'm sure it does work and you're the proof for it, but it's still very superficial. Essentially boils down to "work harder". I'd encourage artists to find their inner voice and find what they love about their thing, so they're not insecure about their art. This requires taking a lot of self-reflection and less self-sabotage. Once you're comfortable with your shi, you will naturally want to promote yourself and make a brand out of it; you're proud of your work, it speaks for who you are, you want to people to listen to it. Rushing this process can be a detriment for your audience, yourself and your art

It’s not your “inner voice” and you “naturally doing it” you will feel motivated at times but majority of the time your going to have to force yourself and discipline yourself. That’s what almost all successful people will tell you. If you just do things until you feel motivated or self reflect, you will never reach success
@ninjehdzn
2 ай бұрын
@@eggsmcmuffin809 That's not the issue. It think it's a success to be there every day to make it work. You see, it's kinda of a bad advice to focus only at the "be successful" part. Producers waits for inspiration to come for a reason, it's a window of opportunity to make something great. I don't agree that it should just be a window, you gotta develop something sustainable and carry to the next day. No offence, but what are you basing all of this off of? Are you taking this from your personal experience, or from the lives of successful producers? Like it’s easy to make a graph and talk confidently into a camera, but research to back a point is the real work. I’ve read quite a few biography’s and watched docs on the lives of successful producers and most of the ones that wasn’t born into money were working dead end jobs to afford studio time, doing anything they can to make ends meet. Most big name producers/artists had some form of contact in the industry and the ones that didn’t were in the left camp that you describe (had to work for a living, didn’t have time to work on music 24/7, had personal commitments such as a significant other and/or a child). Once they found links or built associations with artists who could help them, their work stood for itself. Tbh this video just comes off as the same “motivational” type stuff that I see all over KZitem, which will definitely help some people kick into gear with their dreams and aspirations, which if that’s what you’re going for is cool. But you title the video “A vs B” as if you have some form of understanding more than the average person as to what A and B really is. Things I would think about. What to you defines a “Successful Producer”. Someone who has made a large amount of money? Someone that has a large production discography? Someone that had an enjoyable career? Someone that made an impact in their field? Like you can have a hit song and not be successful in the long term, but you can also be successful in the long term and never have a hit song. This video just feels like another KZitemr/influencer telling their audience how to manage their career, and honestly a touch too far towards the braggadocious attitude of “look at what I have. See I must be successful”
@halfwaySM
2 ай бұрын
Success is subjective at the end of the day so It depends on what someone defines as success for themselves. Hopefully, as you said, someone will watch this video and get the drive to chase their dreams (or maybe even stop doomscrolling all day). if i can be helpful to someone then I'm happy. It may come off as braggadocious; tis life. What I 100% agree on with you here is that this video could of been much better, but I'm sure the next one will be.
