Chat bubbles is what i want the most, i really feel like there's a disconnect between your character talking and just talking in a tiny chat box on the side, it's incredibly easy to miss out that someone was addressing you in /say and i imagine people would be a lot more social if they saw people chatting on a visual level like that

@@Tresorthas Yoshida knows English but he's very self conscious about speaking it. He feels he's not very good with speaking English. So the most we usually get in English is his introduction or him saying 'no' or 'yes' if a question or suggestion really gets to him. Like in America, English is taught in schools but after a certain point, you're not required to take it unless you need it for a job. SE is first and foremost a JAPANESE developer. Most of their games never come to the English speaking world. Yoshida is also their FIRST dev to insist on speaking directly to the players. Before him, you'd NEVER hear anything from SE unless it's a prepared statement from their translation/marketing teams or a fan translated interview. There's a reason why in FF11 we joked about a 'JP' button. And that the American forums would ask bilingual players to translate our concerns and bring them to the Japanese forums for us. Otherwise we'd get ignored. Just the fact that Yoshida is willing to speak to us with a translator sometimes is a HUGE step forward.

Chat organising tools such as highlighting the names of specific players, friends, people in friends list groups, etc. The ability to hide emotes from players not on your friends list or outside a whitelist. The ability to highlight your name when it's mentioned in chat, emotes, etc. Auto-opening the loot menu when new loot is added, and the ability to move/resize the big dialogue box that pops up in duties. Official bard midi or midi keyboard input support. BDO has this! If midi support was official, it would be much easier for them to stop unlicensed songs from being played, which is against the ToS and can lead to legal issues. People will always want to make their game unique. I think focusing on GShade is a mistake since there are likely other programs and applications that can do this. Photographers etc use monitor calibrators and people can use them to change screen "colors". I think GShade just makes it easier for the average person who doesn't know these other apps exist. I would rather they focus on actual in-game things like you mention as well as the ability to resize the in-game chat panels so that it's not gigantic compared to my other UI elements. Training dummies at various locations and even housing on the other hand for the most part is perfect if you want to build in that muscle memory but the downside is the fact that you don't know what you're doing is right.

It happened for SB's rdm or shb's machinist and others that i can't remember. Plus a 3 min fight without mecanics isn't representative: you can squeeze more ressources in the 3 minutes that you'd keep for a 4 min burst normally, leading to an artificial higher dps, crits and DH have way more impact and for jobs relying on high burst with low filler dps you will always have the same kill time because you will kill during the last burst. What we want to know is if a fight has multiple disengage where you can't target the boss: do i do better if i keep my burst before, after, how do I use my buffs: you have no idea if you are doing good or not, which lead to enrages: having DPS CHECKS in a game where you can't check your dps is dumb. Most DF people don't do half the dps they should with their level and you don't need to have a parser to know it, you can see it just by looking at how they move and play. Where ACT is useful is for the high end duties where you need to know where that 1k dps is missing from.

The stuff from 11:14 onwards, about the improvements in high ping environments, is extremely important. This game has servers in very few regions (when compared to similar games), so any and every improvement that could be made in regards to this has to be considered. This is no simple request, but it's nevertheless needed, both for the existing players and in order for the game to grow. For some tiny personal input, for the love of god SE, I found out a couple days ago that one tweak in one plugin was to disable targeting via the right mouse button. This is something I've wanted almost since I started playing because it's easy to accidentally target something while trying to move the camera repeatedly in combat. I've gone through official channels and encouraged likeminded people to weigh in. When it's way more convenient to set up and use said plugin than it is to even suggest that tweak for inclusion in the actual game, people are obviously going to go that route instead of trying to give feedback. SE needs to open communication about these features and welcome input. Most people are just trying to make the game more enjoyable to play without hurting integrity or hurting other people.
@Mouse-go3gc

You can also simply fix that issue but not have your cursor over anything/anyone when moving your camera. That's a very miniscule issue that can easily be fixed by the player just paying attention to their cursor. If you tend to lose your cursor, you can make it bigger or even change the color to see it better. Yoshi has always been open to input. So much has changed in the game because of player input. And they're planning to implement stuff from mods because of input. I don't see how that's not welcoming? Usually during liveletters, you can talk in chat (attempt to lol, it goes so quickly), and hope they catch your question or submit questions/suggests that they'll respond to for Q&A liveletters. I've been QA on an MMO for a WHILE now and I agree with the points about overwhelming QA. I really could see it becoming a snowballing situation where development just keeps getting more and more delayed because of edge case issues for these new features being discovered constantly. That and I wouldn't be surprised if the 1.0 spaghetti code would make their jobs 1000000000 times harder too EDIT: Also on Yoshida being unaware of ping issues, I buy it. Its super unlikely that a test environment would be able to accurately simulate high ping. There are tools for it, obviously, but as with all things in a test environment it rarely actually compares to the real thing
@24hr-Gaming

But that has to do with the dev cycle not making room for QoL improvements. It's not like QA cares whether those features are in or not, they just want to sign off on whatever they have to sign off before the deadline. Using QA as an excuse is dumb. That's a software development cycle issue. And for high ping simulation, there are a ton of tools where you can intentionally throttle your connection or make packet delays. Testing against high ping is not really rocket science, especially these days. But who knows what if any debug tools they actually give QA. Hell, they wouldn't even need to do setup for high ping or setup a test environment. Just have their QA testers play on EU server with a few classes and record doing the same rotation against playing on JP. That's how players in the wild noticed it.

You don't even need to do anything else besides install the program and put in the settings or use a preset. I feel bad for you if the company you work for doesn't even have that. And if Square Enix doesn't have that either, shame on them. Live server testing is also pretty common too. @@24hr-Gaming When new features are added QA has to test all of what was added, plus an entire RC cycle worth of testing that covers every function and facet of the game in at least some capacity. So merely adding chat bubbles would require a chat bubbles test in WIP, to confirm the features working. Then again in RC. Alongside that one measly RC test would be a full smoke test. Login checks for all platforms, a test of the glamour system, raids, dungeons, trials, ultimates, NPC dialogue, NPC pathing, levelling up, abilities working as intended, particle systems working as intended, etc etc. Where theres smoke, theres fire after all. And thats just off the top of my head, i'm not a SE employee so i'm sure theres more than just that. But even then thats a nightmarish amount of RC QA work for a small patch release. As for your point on throttle tools. Yup they exists, but as you mentioned theres no way to know what tools are given. Its sad but true to say that adding new tools is always a last minute thing because of the manhours it uses to train staff to use that tool. But I do agree that getting a lag box in wouldn't be too hard. They'd have to confirm any findings with the tool in a live environment too though, which can take a while. Tis a thorough job, QA

I don't think all people using DPS meters are toxic, that's not the problem. However, it's been proven in just about every single MMO out there, that DPS meters are the single most common source of toxicity. As long as there's this "1st rule of DPS meter is you don't talk about DPS meter" policy, it's more or less OK. Just think about it. You have a bad day. You have a DPS meter. You see one player is doing bad DPS. You say it, just this once, just because you have a bad day. Here you are, toxicity, supported by the DPS meter (I'm not saying the DPS meter caused it, your bad day did, but the DPS meter helped to actually be toxic). If a DPS meter was built into the game and only 0.01% of the players would make inappropriate comments about DPS from time to time for any reason, toxicity would go through the roof. Also, I think, a DPS meter on screen in real time is utterly useless. The only real value of it is to be able to bark at the poor guy on the bottom of that meter to let off some steam when you're annoyed for some reason, which is not useful at all. What is useful, however, is some good analysis tools outside the duty to gauge and optimise yourself. (OK, there's one scenario where a live DPS meter could be useful: to determine whom to raise first when things go south in a PUG) Some suggestions: 1. ESO has a cool solution: when you start attacking a target dummy, the game automatically starts recording. When the dummy "dies", it shows you a summary of your DPS in the chat as system message. It's a great way to measure yourself and optimise your build and rotation. 2. There's a duty recorder in FFXIV. I've actually never tried it, so I can't say how useful it is. However, the concept of recording a run and analysing it afterwards has some great potential (in fact, it's what the popular 3rd party tools do). In 3 years of FFXIV, I've only once seen a dialog "Player X wants to record this duty, do you agree?" - great, it's even opt-in. :) It's probably useless in its current form, otherwise, more people would use it. But the foundation is there, SE just has to make it useful. ;)

@@raffaelherzog5098 Live DPS meters are useful for deciding who to give astro cards to, who to dance partner, who to give dragon eyes, it's also useful to just get on-the-spot feedback about your performance, so you can adjust accordingly on the spot instead of waiting a whole instance timer before you can sit down and see what happened. I use it all the time when doing savage/extreme content, and at worst it's a non-factor that causes no hindrance, and at best it tells me if I'm underperforming so I can change my gameplay on the spot (particularly valuable on healers since it tells me how much I'm overhealing). Regarding the toxicity argument, it is true that there is toxicity born from parsing, but it's very important to make the distinction between parsing and harassing. There is a very obvious, black and white line between simply using a parsing or even mentioning it, and using it to bully and harass someone, crossing that line should be the point of concern and banning.

@@raffaelherzog5098 I mean Yoshi P talked about situations where someone hasn't played for months and queues into a dungeon and is hassled over it. In that case you can just limit it to being viewable in high end duties and just show personal dps or even total party dps. That way it's impossible to single anyone out. There's definitely compromises if he's worried about people being hassled over it. Plus, the harassment policy is already extremely broad so people who are nasty will end up reported anyway. PVP at the end already shows you total damage done and K/D/A and PVP in general is way more of a competitive environment, yet I haven't heard of any complaints about people being upset about it.

Honestly, I played Overwatch for 5 years, and one thing keeping me from going back is the scoreboard they have in the Overwatch 2 beta. I had my experience ruined by toxic players when I was learning a dps. Sure, my kills weren't amazing, but I was pushing the cart constantly, and the game had just launched. That's not the only toxicity I experienced because of kill count. Probably why I became a support main, because my kills didn't matter then. When I played WoW, I experienced the same toxicity with DPS meters. I'm a casual player, and I've had to be for the past 12 years due to carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel syndromes. I can't play at mythic+ levels in a normal dungeon, and that's the level of play that community often expects. I agree with Yoshi P. that scoreboards/dps meters just breed toxicity in games. I hope the policy remains the same, for the sake of casual players like me. p.s. SE, please add all unlockable hairstyles, plus hats, to Hrothgar and Viera. Something I think needs to be pointed out, and it's something I imagine most people don't know(I sure didn't until Bungie just straight up explained it regarding Destiny 2) is that certain elements of the game, from UI elements to actual functions of certain things, often have a hard limit on how much they can show/do in the game engine itself. As an example from Destiny 2, weapons used to be able to create something called "Orbs of Power", which when picked up did various things based on your build. However, Bungie wanted to add a new type of perk to weapons that would give them different bonuses based on the content the weapon was received from. To do this, they had to remove the ability to create Orbs of Power, because it having both would exceed the hard limit on how much any single gun can actually do built in to the engine. There's a hard limit on how many different functions a single piece of gear can support enforced by the engine, and exceeding that would require a significant amount of time and effort. I imagine this is what the FF14 devs mean when they say something "Won't fit" or that a feature simply "Can't be added". It's not literally impossible, but simply far more effort and risk than it seems.

They had spent all day wiping, and then he got fed up and turned of something that allowed people to compare their parse to the party, and that run they cleared it. XVICOMBO is very close to be like a “cheat” if used in PVE. It reduces a lot the base difficulty of the game and that is something that you don’t want. It turns every jobs into one button. WoW is toxic AF for having that be a thing at all but FF was built with so much utility in many classes that a meter is just going to cause those jobs to be even less desireable simply because they do not bring the numbers other classes do even if their utility may be irreplaceable. If you are curious about clearing a raid damage wise, that's the entire point of Stone, Sky, Sea. If you can clear that, the rest is learning the fight. Simple as that.

And also stone,sky, and sea is just bad b/c it doesn't count movement throughout the fight and other people party buff ect. You can't tell other people how to play their game by saying "I don't think a game is fun by pushing efficiency" because there always people that do care about pushing damage and seeing actual number and their skill timeline. I personally used act to help me improve A LOT on my rotation and combat skills and it nice to see the improvement across weeks of doing raids that i am getting more cast in or i am getting more uptime. The thing is that those with issues know what they need better then anyone else. for square to put those players first, a small percentage of players, many if not most of which can make due without mods, will take time and money away from improving core game mechanics and other things, while only serving that community to a sub standard level. I'm all for UI customization as that's something that can be taken advantage of by everyone, but a colorblind mode or tts, is something that is already taken care of and probably remarkably well by other tools. i think better integration w/ the game like providing the chat logs and filters for those chat logs to external programs might be a solution to that problem. that's less work for them and better support. And nVidia has a shader system for FFXIV that supports color blind modes so, we just need a solution for AMD and intel and some way to integrate such shaders into a system wide app on xbone/series x and/or PS4/5. no one should have an objection to this, as the color blind mode can easilly be done through shaders.

My big want would be spell customization - recoloring spell effects or even re-theming them, maybe alternate animations for actions/abilities as well. Integrate some of what Textools is capable of. You'd be amazed how much that makes people happy with their existent gameplay options when they can personalize it to that extent, when it's part of how they express themselves in the game world DPS meters are just FOH it's not happening. And also, ACT would definitely be something he intended in his statement, it's raw copium to insist it wasn't part of what he's talking about, especially knowing his overall stance on DPS meters.

The abliity to customize spells would be AMAZING. I'd love to see something like City of Heroes has (I'd actually love to see more games copy the character creation City of Heroes has) where you can change not just the color but the animation that goes with it, sometimes from 3 or more options!

@@Mad-Lad-Chad Yeah, it's actually kind of amazing how many 'problems' in MMORPGs today for the user experience that CoH/CoV had solved literally before TBC had come out and that games like WoW and FFXIV still manage to spin their wheels on - like how much happier players are with the gameplay options you give them if they can do something as simple as personalize *how it looks* And it's not like I asspulled it as an FFXIV wish list item - you can literally do this with textools, just only on client-side. In a perfect world it would be host-side but even if it were just made official as a client-side feature people would love it

I think I would like to see 3 things really; 1.) From the moment I started playing I've found the font difficult to read. I've gotten used to it but a more dyslexic friendly font would be nice? 2.) I play a Viera and there is a mod that makes hats visible for them and Hrtohgar. I understand that to mod ALL the hats in the game would be an undertaking but if square just had like... an approved mods lost I would not complain. Honestly what gripes me about the hat thing is that I understand not wasting manpower and resources on modding all hats, but if it's an EVENT reward, cost REAL MONEY TO OWN, and/or something like that and came out AFTER Viera and Hrothgar existed they should have been taken into account...

While I get a DPS meter is good for those that want to just improve, let's look at WoW. How often are DPS meters used to shame people, cause people to leave groups in protest, etc. YoshiP is dead on accurate with this, he doesn't want WoW's toxicity.

@@seven2eight2 You don't think people would ask to see parses for certain content? I guess I should state, toxicity through shaming is only one part of the problem, the other is barring entry to content using parses as a means to bar someone. Even if WoW's was "personal" the community would find ways to use it for ill. I mean, I can see someone shaming someone else then being all "show me your parse! prove it!"

Really good points! I came originally from WoW, like many of us new FFXIV players and we are used to a lot of very nice quality of life and super essential features that came with using addons in WoW. I feel like Mods and Add-ons are in themselves a nice feature in an MMO to have as they are made by players for players, which saves a lot of resources from the games dev team when they do not have to attemp creating these features in-game themselves. However I can also understand Mods being against ToS in this case, but in my humble opinion they are actually healthy for the game for the most part! Also I'm sure if they decide to create a new MMO from scratch they have an enormous amount of knowledge on how to do things properly from the beginning! That would be very exciting and definitely something to look forward to!

Just thinking of oQueue... an Addon that got popular during MoP to enlist a group, so people could apply to it and form a group for content without having to spam any chats over and over... They implemented it in WoD, now being official part of the game. Weakauras is not only a strong Addon that goes over the top sometimes, but it's also game content. We have a lot of people who spent their game time with designing UIs and it's fun! From what i've seen there's almost no way for the devs to make a better UI than the players. There are just too many styles, some want beautiful icons, some want numbers, some need progress bars. Simplistic or fancy. That's not about cheating or whatever, but about the different types of people who comprehend informations differently.

Early version of telegraphs in ARR was red and less dense. If you think yellow is hard to see, check some old pictures. It is still hard to see if you stand in water, but compared to old red ones it still at least somewhat visible. It is can of worms, but they could give people at least some choices better sutied theirs color sensitivity. Default yellow works for most, but it might not be best for some people.

Death recap. Oh my GOD. I had to do the second trial of endwalker (the one that lets you have trust NPCs) six times because the border of the fight arena is an instant death trigger. I'd scruntch up against the wall to avoid an AoE about 2/3 of the way into the fight, lightly brush against the edge, the screen would fade to black and the fight would restart. There's no spikes, or anything else that would indicate that it's instant death around the edge. The one annoyance problem I had with Endwalker.

I like the idea personally of SE finding some devs of already in game plugin developers to make an official or officially endorse a plugin manager along with mods that are only created by a certain team and what SE agree on. SE is a huge company, a lot of these are minor changes that they're not focused on or just don't think about because of future game content. Having a team or outside resource dedicated to this seems like a win win imo.

1. as for the housing adding a float to the housing items would be nice then adding a i dont remember the name i think its something like hand controller after the item has been place with the float ie hovering in sky place item then adding a hand controller so you can place an item at each xyz cords from that float item would be realy good 2. for those that struggle with classes because they have a large amount of ping it would be nice if the skill was more of a weave over a gcd for example dancer with the step action even on good ping it feels realy clunky it would be better if it was more like ninja finger hand jutsu and if i remember right the ninja finger hand jutsu does a client side check before before going to the sever side 3. dps checker this one is difficult in one hand it is good for doing raid content with a premade group that want to push and give advice on were each person can pick up the pace having a test dummy to check your dps does not work because you are just standing still with no mechanics going around you in the other hand sadly the eu and na community are on super salt levels with each other if someone has low dps so since they cant check if your running act to do a dps checker dont make it public improve your own dps and hps and offer advice to those who are slacking just dont be a dick about it pushing them in a negitive way just makes them play worse 4. the excuse about last minute changes when they do a huge changes they could just not change certain things example i heard recently they were going to do a huge change on the astro i have been a healer and tank main since heavens ward and astro is not one that needs such a huge drastic change its a delayed healer for one that makes it interesting it also has a decent base heal and hps if you know a large amount of damage is coming you can prep for it with the delayed heal skills and bam the its a fun fluid class with the card system that being said the only thing i would change is making the some aoe skills larger just like sage when you try and aoe it does not hit a large amount of targets unlike white mage were it has a stun plus larger aoe 4.5 if there are going to be large amount of changes then do it to something that actualy needs it unlike astro sch needs a huge change i remember the joy of being able to heal with the pet at lower levels and most of the healers feel like they have something to do at lower levels then a huge amount but something were as sch they just dps now thats not a bad thing doing dps and healing but they dont heal they only leave it up to the pet and lets be fair its not great sch only gets a few skills way later in the game that makes it a good class not great but good and still it does not feel fluid it does not feel fun 5. the biggest change that needs to be made is better eu and na admins when reporting players you could say well its just a culture difference you cant be as strict with eu players and na players compared to the jp players well the Oceania players stood out only in the way they grab enemies they way the grab a boss the way the do dps but the toxic community in jp is there dont get me wrong but it is very minor because the jp admins on average do there job were i have seen people use several types of threats of violence in the eu and na community and nothing is done we constantly see bots in eu and na for gold sellers and bots that are boosting classes if this exist in jp its hardly ever seen in over a year and a bit playing on jp severs i have seen 3 times i have reported someone for being toxic and i have seen one bot train no gold sellers on eu na they take the report pretend they are checking out what went on and then bam nothing its just a pr move to make you think they are trying to stop threats of violence towards players they only care about the bottom line because they dont have the same amount of pride that the jp admins and devs have about the game and how people are treated

the little bit i played of star wars online, my favorite part was the voice acting, and even the player character in some cases, more immersive. i have a whole document full of suggestions i copy pasta to them. A dps meter, healing meter, and have them for just your character, how can it be toxic if you only know what your own DPS is, for personal improvement. I agree, a full tell all meter would create "more" toxicity" cause lets be real, it already exists. Hope you're doing well Zep. - My big want is the housing system, yes just please lord unleash us. I've seen that Mod and its a DREAM that should just be implemented.
