Good morning everyone Thanks for tuning in for yet another video. I take you through the top 6 hectic or stressful specialties and give you a bit of a glimpse on what they actually do on a daily. The information I got from my experience of having rotated or worked in some of the departments. I also asked a couple of colleagues in the respective fields. Majority of studies done were American studies looking at burnout levels in Doctors in various fields. There are minor differences due to the fact that the system is set out differently in south Africa. Money wise surgical specialties: Ob's, gen Surg, Neuro Surg, plastics,Ortho, etc. tend to yield more money in private because on top of consultations and ward rounds theres also theatre time and they can charge a lot for the operations. In public however it's the same salary across all specialist except if maybe you're a department head. Grade 3 MOs with more than 10/15years experience can earn the same if not more than specialists.

Bone Doctor(Ortho) 👍❤. I heard there are no longer posts for specialists in South Africa, and if there is one it usually have ridiculous requirements. And(ike) they are saying its becoming more and more difficult to specialize , which means in future it could be almost impossible to specialize. Kinda sad. 🥺

Sort of.... so within their GP practices, if they have a dispensing license. Technically, not to sell to people (walking in from outside) but give meds to people who have consultated.

Ziyalingana in SA public sector😂. Old Medical officers (grade 3) can get paid equal 0r even more than specialists 🤞🏽. In Private however depends on demand, location, competition etc. So you can't really look that up easily as you would in a system like USA. I'd rather do a video and maybe base it on the amount of money they charge or claim, it still might not be as accurate
