I am late getting to this video. This was an exquisite puzzle. I played it notation free. Going back at around 11m30s in your video when you spot the 12 pair (very neat, bravo!), I did not. But I was able to cause the puzzle to collapse with the simplest of trick. The 57 pair in block 4 has serious consequences in block 6. You allready have 1s jammed in either middle or upper rows of column 9 in that block. With the 57 pair of block 4, you know that cell r6c3 is either a 5 or a 7, and therefore, cells r4+5c9 will either be a 15 or 17 pair. Therefore the 3s are squeezed in the lower row 6 of block 6, and, from there, in r5c6. Bingo! Flurry of activities starting with the next 3 in r1c5, etc and sprinting to the finish.

Nice puzzle, not too difficult. Solved it in 13:27. After the 57 pair in column 3 I actually noticed a skyscraper on 3s in rows 2 and 5, which removed 3 from r1c9 and r6c8 and created another 57 pair in row 6, placing 3 to r6c9. After that the puzzle solved easily enough that I did not even need the 12 pair in column 5.

Skyscrapers aren't supposed to be in these puzzles. But If I find one, it's fair game: 5s, columns 4 and 8. I have no idea whether I overlooked an important strategy. 4:00 I'm sure you'll catch the 8s before something bad happens. 8:20 After placing block 7's 7, block 1 has two cells available for its 7. 8:30 I beg to differ. I solved a good many cells as part of centermarking the grid, before placing the 2 in the green cell. 10:20 Yes, I got the 12 pair as part of centermarking the last two blocks of my grid. 13:20 If there's one practice I overlook too often, it's crosshatching after I place digits. It happens especially after I've placed a bunch of digits at once. I would have placed those digits, and others, earlier than I did.

I have often overlooked crosshatching after placing digits as well, John. Nice job finding a skyscraper. Thats awesome.

I had a 14-minute solution. On replaying it, I see that I placed the 12 and 78 pairs in column 5 very, very early, and I can't now reconstruct my reasoning. With those placed, it was all easy, because all the naked singles/pairs turned up while sweeping blocks after other solves. Sometimes I do the right thing for the wrong reason?

Maybe. Maybe you just saw the relation between those pairs instinctively. Great job solving this in 14 minutes.

You inform us to focus on one particular but you don't tell us how to identify that cell. Surely, in a previous solve of this puzzle you followed particular steps to get to that point where it is apparent that that cell is important.

You make a great point, William. There is nothing at the beginning of the puzzle that would indicate to the solver that the highlighted cell is important. I use as a marker to show what we are working towards. Would it be better if I highlighted cells that would help at the very beginning of the solve?
@williamholtvoigt4639

You are following a logical progression: cross hatching 1 -9, then cross hatching again if cells were filled in during the 1st time through, then identifying bi-value cells, etc. I wouldn’t change the way you are doing it. I couldn‘t understand how you could identify a critical cell up front but I can see it now. I have learned a lot from your program.
