Could be a Big Sky. Lots of Shimmer reverb in the demo - I feel like if you're demoing a synth, Shimmer should be 100% out of the question, since it adds harmonics that don't exist in the original material.

RellyAlexander He he.. I approve :) It sounds really nice. That high quality Moog sound. And it seems to play nice too. Semi modular and all. Nice! Looking forward to testing it! Certainly an interesting entry by Moog. As an Elektron user though I've gotten spoilt by the much "deeper" usability side of Elektron's systems. But it's an Elektron thing. Shouldn't compare them directly. They both seem to have their own strengths.

Cuckoo if you could get a elektron digitone or this which do you think would be the better buy? I like making sounds like you hear in this demo plus quirky stuff with interesting rhythms and gorgeous melodies. So my idea was to get one off these and a Moog Minitaur Analogue Bass Synthesizer Module and just jam with them to make some amazing sounds! I spoke to you awhile ago and you told me you weren't 100% Happy with some off your elektron gear. cheers mate Nathan...

Awesome mini-modular, Moog! Great choice to make the sound engine all-analog, in this era of mostly digital analog-style synths. Loved the sound demos; that music at the beginning reminded me a lot of old Gary Numan. Honestly, I wouldn't have expected Moog Music to keep kicking butt so amazingly after Bob's passing, but you guys certainly are!

My first synth was a Roland Gaia SH-01 I got when I was 15 and didn’t even know there was a difference between analog and digital synths. I’ve used it for years but today’s my 21st birthday and my parents got me an Arturia Microbrute which will be my first analog synthesizer and I couldn’t be more excited. I know that one day I will own a piece of Moog hardware but I’ll have to save a long time with as little money I make lol.

I have one and it's a fantastic synth. But I do think Moog should indicate what effects they are running the Mother-32 into here. For example, I might be mistaken but it sounds like there is a nice use of reverb and delay in this video. It therefore feels slightly shady when what you are hearing is the Mother-32 processed and what is presented is just the M-32. As far as I am concerned, a patch includes the effects, since that can totally change the sound and emotional feeling. Heck, you could put a Casio Sk-1 through a Strymon Big Sky reverb pedal and start to sound like Vangelis--or pretty close haha! If you are trying to sell your synth, and I have no doubt this will be a huge success for Moog, be up front about what "complex harmonic content" you are representing.

Everything about this is so beautifully done! The video production and infographics, the sounds and sequences created by these three relatively unknown artists (hey Moog, why didn't you ask me to contribute to the video! Come on!) and of course, the Mother-32 itself. Based on the few down votes, it's obvious that some people don't get what this is about, but to me, this is a near perfect synth to have that Moog sound in a compact, hands-on package for live use... and oh, you can also integrate it into a Eurorack system if you want. Brilliant! Even though I already have the Sub 37 (see my videos for demos) the Mother 32 will be perfect for me when I'm doing smaller live sets and I don't want to have to drag out all of my full size keyboards. They only thing that I don't like about it, as others have mentioned, is the fact that I am back to be a starving artist these days, and I can only afford one instead of three! But eventually, I will get three... well done Moog Music.

@Syncopator

+VolcaRock And then you'll turn all of your new songs into MP3 files. Methinks it's the KNOBS, not the underlying technology that make the difference, for the most part. And if MOOG is astute enough to make use of pots instead of mechanical rotary encoders (or they use optical ones), that would be a huge plus in its favor-- a lot of the more digital makers, such as Korg and Elektron, use cheap Chinese made mechanical rotary encoders that oxidize and start getting noisy within about 6 months of purchase. That stuff is crap and MOOG ought to tout the fact they use better quality components (assuming they always do), as that would be a huge selling point in my book, and good differentiation from the competition.
@VolcaRock
9 жыл бұрын
Syncopator I am planning to upload some of my later tracks on soundcloud, sure one day I will find the time :-) I have newer stuff from Elektron and Korg. Until now I never had problems but my vintage machines have much more massive knobs and faders and feel like Boutique-Machines compared to the newer stuff. I never had an Moog, so I hope that the mechanic is as good as you described, because I did a pre-order right now :-).
