Oh how I needed to be reminded of this. We forgive and love others bc while we were yet sinners and still continue to fumble, God loves us fiercely….like mom said, you become salt and light in the world, bc the world certainly don’t think this way. This is God’s way…and guess what, his way transforms our hearts for the better. Unforgiveness and hate is like a slow eating poison… Praise God for this conversation! I’m enjoying this…❤

I love listening to your mama! I found it so funny the 'don't buy drinks' thing. My hubby grew up in a bigger family and they would always order tap water if they ever ate out and I'd never even thought about doing that until I saw them do it. We do it often now if we eat out 😊 x

I have a East African background (faith is Christian) but first generation American raising kids in U.S so I get best of both worlds. I’m learning a lot of Christian wisdom from this. Im glad you mentioned the fact that mothers need to care for themselves as well. I just want to mention one thing I’m noticing is that it sounds like a lot of times in the U.S, women are expected to do everything without help from the community. This is unheard of back home and in the Eastern world, it’s completely a Western ideology. There is virtually non post partum depression in many eastern countries because the women come together to care for the mother and baby for 40 days after she gives birth. You can’t expect women to carry the burden without other women it’s not good for their mental health and it’s not practical. This isolated mentality is the reason that a lot of women suffer in silence or feel like something is wrong with them because they can’t handle being alone with babies and having to do all by themselves all day. That expectation is unheard of in most of the world. Our children are just being babies and need so much love and energy and that’s because they are just babies and we needed the same when we were babies. We have to be full in order to give this to them. I just want to say As women, we need to stop putting this impossible expectation on one another to be this perfect woman that can handle all this stuff when for centuries, mothers have been doing it by helping one another. I hope women can find a tribe of mothers that can help care for them and the baby post partum and beyond.ps please don’t leave your baby overnight with people even if you trust the mother because you don’t know about whoever else is in the house.

You and your mum have a lot of good advice and I love how you've taken much wisdom from the bible. The Gospel was given to Jesus (peace be upon him) by God (as metioned in the Quran). However please be aware that the Bible we have nowadays has been altered loads and a lot has been taken out as well. Therefore it cannot be used anymore and we need to turn to the Quran for true guidance. Jesus was a messenger of God, but not the son of God. He also did not die for our sins, we are all responsible for ourselves and what we do. These are a few of the misconceptions that have made their way into Christianity. May Allah guide us and reward you with much good. "And We sent, following in their footsteps,1 Jesus, the son of Mary, confirming that which came before him in the Torah; and We gave him the Gospel, in which was guidance and light and confirming that which preceded it of the Torah as guidance and instruction for the righteous." Quran 5:46

What do you think the difference is between being sort of codependent in a relation and being a companion? I used to feel that my husband and I had to have the same activities but then I started to feel like I was losing myself in that. Same, used to want our kids to alldo the same things but then syarted to worry that it wasn't letting everyone became their own person.
