You know there is a very famous song they did (1st album) that explained why they were were shunned by the industry. I can't put the name of it here because my comment would be deleted. Anyway, the industry's attitude was "You're black so you're a dance band. You can't play rock'n'roll." If you listened to the clip you know that's a lie. As far as I know, they're still touring the Southeast and still popular.

I worked on their sound crew. Glen and Joyce put together an amazing band and kept the quality up while replacing players. Pepe Daniels was the drummer playing with them when I first encountered them around 1978. Barry Borden also played drums, he is currently with Marshall Tucker. Wizzard's brother played drums for a while. Moses Mo is gone and Michael Keck got fired for no particular reason. What a long strange trip it's been. I used to love doing Mother's Finest and the Dixie Dregs at the Fox Theatre on New Year's Eve.

DoomCityLive Their catalog IS big!!! Plenty big enough! They HAVE been consistent and still ARE in the face of this treacherous music business. Just because you don't see what you may call "much" here doesn't mean it's all they've got. In fact, I'm STILL discovering things from them I hadn't heard and I've been a fan since my youth. There really is NO viable reason for their being kept hidden. They've outdone every other in all their efforts and the following they have validates that. Even being hidden and sabotaged did and COULD not STOP them from being A HUGE DRAW of humanity from the cracks of society to enjoy them. And They Rock HARD!
