Slurgi, what impresses me most about your spy play isn't your ability to get trickstabs- that's reasonably common. What I find impressive is your ability to recover when you miss a stab- you can almost always step back and turn it into a successful backstab, and that's amazing.

Yep. I've seen a lot of spies try to trictstab or stairstab me. I, being used to how trcikstabs are done due to Slurgi, successfully dodge them, and guess what, they just try to run, hide or become invisible, in which time I kill them. Only like 10% knew they still have a revolver and their NORMAL stabs can do like 30-40 dmg and tried to kill me.

JCthe Spy Usually I'll switch it into a matador when I realize in that moment I've given them too much time to react. So halfway into the cornerstab I'll realize "Yeah, I fucked up...but I know where they're going to look now so time for a matador." All of these stabs, especially the ones that look like facestabs really come down to knowing precisely when and where the opponents are going to look in certain directions, which I control by leading them with my own movement.

Three questions, oh great Slurgi. 1. How much do you find unbalanced teams to affect your opportunities as spy? These days, with the growing frequency of getting stuck on a team that has no clue what it's doing, I've found that lack of an offensive threat to make being effective infinitely harder. All the enemies can afford to spycheck constantly, and not all blindly rush at you with a melee weapon. 2. After mastering the extremely-unique nature of the Spy, do you find yourself having any interest in Overwatch, where there's no class similar (yet announced)? Coming from a Demo/Solly main, many classes seen a fairly lateral move for me. Would you enjoy the game without trickstab potential? 3. What do you see as the future of TF2? Is it still as fun for you as it was a few years ago? I've been disappointed to see player maturity, competency, team-sense and friendliness fall like a rock this last year. It's almost made me quit, because trying to work with good team is like herding cats, if the cats are also 10 years old and AFK in spawn. Has it affected your play, enjoyment, or future plans?

I like the speed when I see it. Woop! This video shows the one big factor that differentiates people whom simply stick to the cookie cutter process and by-the-book tricks, to those who innovates and adapts to any terrain, and always psychologically one step ahead of the opponent. What we have here is a perfect mixture of psychology and fast, acute, movements, that allow rapid succession and distant foresight, that thus allows seemingly unthinkable tricks that you've never thought of executing. It is not the area that defines that stab, nor the certain prop, but is the adaptive aspect and utilizing ALL keys that makes these tricks possible. P.S. Really like the title, very suiting indeed. Many a stab displayed in this video is highly dependent on parallax displacement and the lack of foresight on the receiving end.

I'm no slurgi, but my advice would be to keep trying out different settings, find out what works for you, and build a consistency. Watching stabby's and slurgi's videos and studying what they do in certain situations can help tremendously aswell. HUDs, crosshairs, mouse sensitivity, mouses, all effect your aiming - at least I'm my experience. Experiment with different things. The best place to practice aim is in pubs, for trickstabs download tr_walkway. If you keep dieing, record your gameplay with the "record" command and re-watch the footage to find out what you could've done differently. Might not be the greatest advice, but I hope it helps a bit.

***** at this point you won't get any better by just playing the game. If you really want to improve you need to train certain things. I know it will soon become boring and just keep on doing it is hard, but it pays off. After one training session things like trickstabs are much more reliable but not for long sadly. That's why you have to keep training and improve stuff.

@danmiller7649
8 жыл бұрын
my name ain't slurgi, but from what it sounds like, because you are on a higher incline, you have more fall time and therefore give your enemy more time to react. especially if they know you're a spy, enemies get much more cautious if they see a spy on stairs/higher inclines. lower incline stabs are much less expected.
