Hello Bradon, That's awesome you have your grandfathers bike and that you want to restore it. It's a lot of work and can be challenging, but will be worth it in the end. I'm glad I can at least give you some help and ideas on what to do. I'm learning myself, and have a ways to go. Thank you for watching and commenting. You have motivated me to get back to work on mine!

Hey there, how's your bike coming along? I noticed you changed your carb to a Mikuni? I'm thinking of using a Motogadet M-Unit with a 12 volt battery once I save up the money.

@@cleaningrestoring4809 I'm running a VM28-49 Mikuni. 28mm. I improvised to get it mounted with several Lowes copper plumbing joints. This year plan to shorten the intake runner a bit with something more permanent. I considered the M-Unit too but price aside, I concluded that in my own case I wouldn't use anything it offered. I'm not running an keyed ignition, battery or signals so the fancy features are dead to mine. I simply have a toggle switch under the tank that arms/kills. ***Before you drill holes in your frame notice that the hole spacing on the regulator and ignition advance unit are the same. I reused the mounting holes for the old regulator and using an 'L' bracket I made I mounted them opposed to each other on that plate. It was clean and easy. Might make it all fit well behind the side boxes.

My personal experience with the stock Delorto was that it would stall under braking forces and would rev higher when the bike was leaned to the kickstand and would lower when leaned the opposite and stall. Played with all different float bowl and carburetor angles to no avail. Thats why I changed mine over to a mikuni. You can hear the difference in the idle between my newest video and the one two videos prior.
