I just got diagnosed with Peripheral Neuropathy and own a tricked out 2001 GSXR 1000. I suffered this from a fall from heat exhaustion as I collapsed and lost consciousness for 6 hours or so.. It just happened two days ago and I am not yet seen a neurologist yet to determine the severity of it. I have little to no feeling in my left leg from the knee down and the right leg is a bit better so I cant walk but Im close and trying. I live to ride and woke up last night in tears just thinking about not ever being able to ride again and do simple things like playing with my children. There is no know cure for this so its pretty much untreatable as far as the doctor I saw told me. A face book friend of mine posted your link to watch. As of right now, my right leg is stronger than the other but I cant more my left ankle at all to shift. I don't know yet how much hope there is for me yet but I just wanted you to know that you are an amazing person and you have my utmost admiration.

Hey sorry for the late reply. The guy I got this kit from is Lee Beaver. I've since sold the bike and don't have his contact info but I would suggest he go with a trike or something with 3 wheels. This set up would be great for track use but it wasn't safe for the road. I had several close calls with not getting the legs down fast enough at red lights. Also, couldn't take the chair with me so my range of use was limited.

@tuliplove642 If you don't walk you lose all the muscle/cushioning in your butt and you are are left with only skin covering your butt bones. If you don't sit on a cushion you can develop a pressure sore (open wound) because blood can't flow to the skin. Then it's nearly impossible to let the wound heal because you are always sitting on it. Christoper Reeve died from an infected pressure sore. Think of having to kneel all day. It starts to hurt because blood can't flow.

Amazing how you have adjusted to your new life. Very inspirational in fact. Question for you. Didn't you ever have any regret about ever getting on a motorcycle in the first place after your accident? Also I am surprised you didn't burn it, or drive over it after your accident. I certainly would have if that happened to me. If you were in a car, you certainly wouldn't have sustained that level of injury or any injury in fact.

With any major injury, even during recovery don't let anyone tell you, " you'll never do that" or "no you can't ". Only you can determine what you want to do and can do. I had some huge ideas nothing would change after losing my right leg, it does however, forcing to adapt or recognize you can't do something only after you try and fail or you deduce it isn't possible. Very few things are impossible any more with the advancements in adaptive gear. It also takes courage " to get back on that horse so to speak ". I always envisioned driving without a left foot accelerator, i can do it in my pickup but not the car. Having the portable left foot accelerator has been a huge blessing because it was my decision and choice. For me it works, for someone else the hand controls work. The bottom line is you have to make the decision not be swayed by others and in the end give up too many things and in the end up dependent on others, homebound and depressed because you never stood your ground and at least tried.

I'm a T12 and I rode before my accident. I like design and fabricating and have had an idea like that for years but was going to use an arduino to sense the speed and with a gyro see where the position of the bike to autonomously drop wheels down but as I read through your comments, I see you've run into the obvious, can't exactly strap your Ti down to the back seat and I see you sold the bike and that bites but at least you got back on the horse so to speak. I've actually been thinking of buying a can-am and my chair will just barely fit in the trailer they sell so.....anyhow, bravo on inspiring others to get out there with an SCI.

I would like to know how you incorporated the front and rear brakes to work from the from brake lever. what proportioning valve did you use and how you installed it. Everyone in every video shows how they use the electric shift but no one shows how they done the brakes so the front and rear work in sync together. Can you make a video on how you done that? And how you mounted the proportioning valve and who made it? Thanks in advance.

@twistedyogert No she didn't stop. She didn't actually make contact with me...she just squeezed me off the road and I had no where to go.
