Nice! I rode through Batopilas in Dec 2022, coming up from Choix, and liked that area so much I did another ride in March 2023. I've stay at Hotel Juanita for both trips and love that place and the owners. I stayed in the same room as you on my first trip. I took along a Mini 3 pro and only wish I would have flown it more after seeing your shots. Again, nice job.

Man you got some amazing footage. Had no idea those roads and canyons and towns were so beautiful. I always like when there's interaction with local people. I enjoyed the video. And subscribed. Wow nice, haven’t been there since they paved the road to Batopilas or built the bridge to Urique. I see Juanita put in stairs to river. Curious what bike and drone?

KTM 890 Adventure. DJI mini 2. I usually use a DJI Pro but from what I can tell (like a lot of countries) you can bring a drone weighing less than 250 grams into Mexico so I bought a DJI mini2. Its a lot of drone for a good price, but I miss not having the advanced features of the Pro (quick lighting adjustment, adjusting pic quality, etc). Although I'm sure its legal, regardless if they seize my drone at least I'm out only a few hundred bucks (mini2) vrs the Pro. I carry the original receipt and current drone laws in Spanish with me at all times in case I get in a pickle. Yes, good eye Doug, Juanita put in awesome circular stairs down to the river front, obvious you've been there!

Nothing special. Just a GoPro 8 with a standard setup. To be honest I don't think I even have video stabilization turned on. Its mounted on top of my helmet (vrs on the bike) so that's probably why the video appears so stable. Glad you enjoyed the video and appreciate your positive feedback.

No, just recorded via drone/GoPro/IPhone then edited on Final Cut Pro. Sorry, I never keep my original footage, once I publish to KZitem I delete original footage. Hope that answers your question.

In terms of the Copper Canyon, (ONE) the road from Creel to Batopilas is 99% paved, absolutely gorgeous, and you’ll be able to do it on a big loaded ADV bike. The road conditions change constantly on those roads due to rain and rockslides, but generally that road is always doable. On the paved switchback going down in Batopilas there is one section of road the pavement is washed out, it’s a curve about 25 yards long with a huge drop-off to your left, it’ll be a challenge on a loaded ADV bike but is doable. If you wanna view that section of road its not on this video but I included it in a couple of my other Copper Canyon vids on my KZitem channel. I was just chatting with someone the other day and he did that section of road on a loaded Triumph Tiger, he found it very scary and challenging but did it. (TWO) Depending on your skill level and if you’re scared of heights, you may be able to do the road from Creel down into Urique. The last approximate 15 miles are unpaved, and the last few miles going down into Urique the unpaved road hugs the side of the canyon and switchbacks its way down, its narrow, steep, huge drop-offs and at times rough. It’ll be very challenging to hold the weight on a loaded big ADV bike, but I’ve seen guys do it. (THREE) No way you’ll be able to do the unpaved road between Batopilas and Urique on a heavy ADV bike (this video). Road is just too steep and rough. Just my opinion. Have a great trip to Oaxaca!

Well, that does it. Your video forced me to plan another trip to the area. Was there in March '21 but on a cruiser so didn't get far past the spillway. Any of your route that you would not recommend for a Suzuki 650 V-Strom? In what order did you go? Creel to Batopilas to Urique to the Falls? Well done, I'm sure I'm not the only one who will be riding there because of your video.
@motosur5943

Good. I'm glad the video tormented you, makes me feel good! I usually go Basaseachi-San Juanito-Creel-Batopilas-Urique-Creel, but you can do it the opposite direction. Don't know which way you'll be coming in from but if you're riding from the west from Hermosillo on Hwy 16 once you hit Basaseachi I'd highly suggest not going through Tomochi (longer route), instead from Basaseachi take the paved road south that goes directly to San Juanito then Creel. This road was recently repaved and is very scenic. If you wanna ride the 50 miles of offroad between Bato and Urique (this vid) because a V-Strom is a little bit bigger bike I'd highly recommend doing it in the spring, because that road will have been been maintained all winter during the dry season. Feb to May would be good months. I'd strongly discourage you from riding it in the fall after the rainy season because the road is trashed from the rains. I rode that road twice in 2021, first time in May (see my earlier vid on my KZitem channel "Batopilas to Urique road. 2021") before the rainy season, scenery was brown and dry, but the road was in great shape. Then I rode the same road again at the end of August after the dry season and everything was green and beautiful, but the road was trashed and very difficult to ride. You can see for yourself the difference in scenery and road conditions between the two videos. The other road I'd highly recommend (its in this video) is the incredibly scenic main dirt road coming out of Urique going into Creel. Its kinda steep and rough, but you should be OK with your Vstrom. Hope you go again and have an awesome time!

@@motosur5943 Went back in early March '22. Loved every minute of the ride except when I made a right instead of a left at the school after the spillway on the way to Urique and fell into the Batopilas river while trying to cross it. Actually even that was fun. Next March I'm taking a nice and light Honda CRF300LR. You were right about the road maintenance. It was much better than it looked on your video. Thanks again for the video especially the drone shots.

Not at all. Google translate app. I’m weak-semi-fluent in Spanish, currently I’ve been on the road a few months working my way to Ushuaia and have got by easily with my crappy Spanish. Even if you don’t know one word use Google translate.
