Everyone seems to be missing a main point...... this isn't raced on a purpose built circuit, it is on public roads around an island..... these roads have kerb stones, lamp posts, trees, buildings, walls and sometimes a pretty steep drop at the edge. this is a basic guide to the race........... it is a time trial, fastest person to complete the race wins. not a mass start, one rider at a time with 10 second intervals between them. 1 lap is just over 37 miles long, most races are either 4 laps or 6, fuel and tyre stops are at laps 2 and 4. any fool with a competition licence can enter (amateur or pro), novices must wear a bright orange colour bib. sidecars run a 3 lap race (no fuel stop). I've been there and seen it in person...... one of the most amazing things to see is the speed these lunatics come belting down the mountain at close to 200mph......... I've driven my car round it (AMG Merc) and its fucking scary with 4 wheels!!!!! One last thing, the speed limit on every road here in Britain is 30mph (unless you see a sign that tells you otherwise)....... some roads are 40, some 50 or 60, and main motorways are 70...... Isle of Man has a few with no limit (German Autobahn is unlimited)

Killer Beast that’s the point isn’t it? People push themselves, this race is for the very few in this world that can a will do it, the rest of us are not talented enough and too scared. It’s a fact. My point is this is the elite, the rest is a distant second. There is no comparison, there is no relation in racing! So stay home, stay snug! Go play golf or soccer. People hide behind fear and morph it to make excuses, hell I know I can’t do this racing. But I’m not going to say hey I rather crash because I’m scared. I rather not crash at all but these guys don’t think that way? The race for only reasons they rest of us wish about. So your feelings of being scared, you then twist it with a safe comparison and compromise and somehow critical thinking of something you fear and with that follows ignorance and hate. Hey it’s ok kid! I’m scared of stuff too? Like spiders and snakes! Lol

Hi Rob Small. I’ll try to answer your questions best I could. The Isle of Man Tourist Trophy, also known as the TT is the best show on earth. It has been going on since 1930’s. This event occurred as you know in spring in May- June. And it is a road racing event. And it is sponsored by the Local Government. It is one of the main tourist attractions during this time of the year. Michael Dunlop is a famous rider here. He is from Northern Ireland. But the more famous rider who won the TT for a record twelve times is the Englishman John McGuiness. The TT is well known in the U.K. and Ireland. The Isle of Man lies in between them in Irish Sea. You can get a ferry either from Dublin or Liverpool. Sidecar is a category of the event. As like the super sports -600cc or the superbikes 1000cc where these guys are smashing these speed records.( The superbikes are the main and the fastest categories) The second video is different from the TT. It’s called the Irish Road Racing Championship. You race like you would on a track with a pack of riders but instead on closed public roads. Unlike the TT where you would do lap against time. Hopefully this might help.

The TT has been going since 1907 and on the current Mountain Circuit since 1912. It is the oldest motorcycle race in the World. It was illegal in England so the Isle of Man let it run. Unfortunately we have lost around 250 riders on the Course between TT and MGP. There are 550 Marshals in position for every race. Many spots have doctors. We have an Air Ambulance and seven Travelling Marshals on bike's. Please DO NOT show crash videos

As a rider this was rather amusing to watch. Isle of man is known as the greatest race of all time. 265 corners and these guys master them. The race is also extremely deadly. Look up some of the crashes. The sidecars are a different class. They dont race with the supersport or superbike classes. The passenger plays a key role in the sidecars as he/she shift weight from left to right. One wrong move and the bike can flip. The dunlop brothers Guy martin and really most of the ones they show in these videos are the ones who win the most etc. Isle of man was developed when road racing was banned in the UK. Isle of man became THE spot to race. Basically imagine it as where the kings of motorbike racing go to show what they are really made of. Yes paramedics are always around. Search john Hinds. He was known as the worlds fastest doctor. These guys that race imho are the best riders out there. Motogp doesnt compare. And you cant compare nascar or formula 1 to motorbike road racing. Expecially isle of man.. Funny watching your reaction to them leaning over. That is how we corner. Butt off the seat and head over the mirror. Lol. Enjoyed the video. Perspective - Try to do 'basically leaning' during ultra heavy G activity (especially tough under braking - as v high negative G) or positive acceleration & you will know 'basically' does not cover the huge physical effort & timing required - I had 3 yrs in F2 & 1 year in F1 to validate that the symphony between driver & passenger is A1 crucial - It's a co-drive. We were not allowed at the TT as we had a 1360cc F1 'worm' in the 1990's - engine way too powerful - it would generate >200mph on a longish straight.

The Isle of Man race has been going on for about 100 years. The entire island is shut down for the practice, qualifying, and then the race. Theres thousands of tourists that show up so it drives the economy. All the restraunts and hotels are full. The locals are pretty used to it though

They shut the island down each year and race around it. One year the boat that had all the bikes on it sank I think.

Only on some parts of the motorway in germany there are no speedlimits, although technically the limit is 180 kilometers per hour but it isn't enforced

The ones you are unsure of are Sidecar outfits. It is a separate class. The passenger has to move around as a counterweight to keep the outfit stable, if the driver turned left without the passenger on, the outfit would flip. The passenger gets his or her weight over the back wheel on the straights, to provide more drive. Tom and Ben Birchall are World Sidecar Champions and TT Lap record holders.

You see and feel that edge at 200mph? It's what mankind has walked for a million years to get where we are today, the margin was this sharp the entire journey.

The bike a 16:19 is a sidecar, it has a motorbike engine. But has been built from scratch it has three wheels and requires two riders. One drives and the other transfers there weight side to side to make it turn quicker.

The sidecar outfits are today like an Indy or F1 car in the way modern materials are used to build them strong and light. The passengers do not have safety leashes to keep them on the outfit, they also never has time to relax as he/she moves around the outfit to help balance it through corners and help with traction on the exit of corners. When turning left the passenger will hang off the left side of the bike to get more weight over the left wheel gaining grip and stopping the outfit flipping over. It works a bit like sailor hanging over the side of a yacht in strong winds. When turning right the passenger will hang over the right of the outfit with their helmet inches off the road, the passenger also leans on the right “powered” wheel when accelerating to gain extra traction then when speed builds they hide down low behind the bodywork to lower wind resistance and not slow the outfit. The outfits used on the TT are limited to 600cc/37cubic inches. Here’s a video from the sidecar races at the IOM TT.

I had to click this video. This race, This particular one is the most deadliest dangerous race in the world!!!!!!! I have seen this one before over the years. Why is it so dangerous well take to the fact the laps are only 6 but each lap is 37.5 miles now multiply that x's 6 its over 200 miles. Your going 190 mph with no walls or protection and hitting a tree or stone wall on a public road at 190 mph, well you don't go to the hospital but to the grave! Your bones don't break but they shatter :) It take some very big balls to do this race. Thats why every country has banned this type of racing but one that still lets you race like this after 109 years and 127 deaths.

"Those" are race sidecars lol.. The driver is depending on the 2nd guy to distribute his weight around the bike going round corners and as when needed. So basically the 2nd guy crawls around the bike And for Micheal Dunlop. He just isn't famous his whole family are legendary on street motorcycle racers Sadly as a result he's the only one left alive out of 4 or 5 of them.

to answer your questions the oldest road motorcycle race is the Isle of Man TT it started in 1907 and is still going on the same roads 2 weeks of every year. medical assistance wise there are traveling marshals, medical teams all over the place and air ambulance helicopters if they're needed The middle video races are based in Northern and the republic of Ireland (the north west 200 and the ulster GP) The current list in terms of number of wins at the TT looks like this: Joey Dunlop, 26. (RIP) John McGuinness, 23. Michael Dunlop, 18. (Joey Dunlop's Nephew) Dave Molyneux, 17.(the most succesful Sidecar racer at the TT (the bikes with two people) Ian Hutchinson, 16. (The first person to win all 5 of the "big" races in one year) Michael Hailwood, 14. (RIP) Bruce Anstey, 12. Steve Hislop (RIP) 11 Phillip McCallen, 11. Hope you do make it over here soon thanks for the great video. PS here's a couple of sidecar videos kzitem.info/news/bejne/mIaKyIJ-oIqIjKQ kzitem.info/news/bejne/joiF3H6qrKaWoKQ
