Fly by wire throttle is less maintenance, better fuel economy because its computer controlled, cable throttle has better response. Easier to fix. All you need is a service manual and some basic knowledge for just about anything however. Rider aids can save your ass if for any reason you get distracted or in over you head. (It happens, were all human)
@scotth5089

I enjoy your videos but I have to say, I will never own a high performance street bike that doesn't have rider aids. I have been riding for years and have been down quite a few times as I have ridden track as well as fast street. I live in the mountains. I currently have BMW S1000R. I got rid of a Panigale 1199s to get the Beamer. I have high sided at high speed an Duc 848 in 2010. Destroyed it. Lean angle sensitive anti-locking brakes would have prevented it. If you watched Moto-GP this weekend you would have seen the high side Lorenzo had that could have been prevented with lean angle traction control. I am sure that bike has that but it is very granular and those guys are so good they run it at a minimal because the computer intervention steals power. I have experienced that same thing on a CBR929 back in 2001. Again your videos are great but I will trade being able to fix the bike myself in order to be as safe as possible. It is a small price to pay. Small displacement bikes do not need all the Aids. Nor does my dirt bikes.

I have owned both. I did love how easy it was to do wheelies on my cbr954rr and it was amazingly resposive. Then I got a new R1, now I have traction control so good I could literally full throttle my bike in the middle of a knee-dragging lean and leave a black skid through the turn. When my wheelie control is on I can full throttle my bike and it will just lift the front end a couple of inches off the ground and keep the wheel there until I hit my rev limiter. Technology is amazing.

I got a 06 cbr 1000 and im happy with it-i dont like all that extra bullshit aids that will make you a shittier rider-safer maybe but you wont know what the fuck to do after you sut on a chopper from an electric scooter bike. I do miss my analog gauges sometimes from a 250 ninja but digital looks nice and takes less space i guess. Old technology,be it a watch or cd player,vinyl player and all the other gazilion of things can actually do things better than new,its not talked about but its true in some cases. Different power modes not only dont help, I think puts riders in danger. Everything in bike have to be consistant so rider get used to them and bike turns "predictable" in all the situations. If one day bike has little power, next day a rocket, rider will get surprises in cretical moments. Consider you ride in "low power" mode everyday. Setting power mode to race accedently (forget to turn it back when you where showing cool features to your cousin!) can give you a fooked up day.

Yeah I agree completely. They are currently doing all these reviews of the new 2020 Ducati Street fighter V4. What happens in 10 years, when Ducati no longer provides software updates, for that bike? Does that mean that Bike will go the way of the Dodo? People would be better buying a used 2008 Suzuki Hayabusa, which if it is well maintained and looked after, will outlive the new Ducati. You would also better off buying something like a new 2020 BMW R nine T pure. This is one bike in 2020 that doesn't have all these electronic aids. It's a bike that will could still be ridden in 20 years, without worrying, about constant software updates, to maintain all those electronic aids on modern bikes.

Really depends how the programer set the throttle. Im all for linear throttle . 50% roll gives you 50% power . A lot of newer bikes tricks to u think it's got more power than it has by playing with the throttle. Like 20% roll gives u 50% power. Makes smooth throttle input really difficult. Throttle buy wire is needed for all the ride mode and traction control to work tho. Like it or not that's gonna be the future .

You know what my nicknames for 'ride-by-wire' are NTSTR (Never Twice The Same Throttle Response). Or TBC -which stands for Throttle by Committee, or To Be Confirmed. Fly by wire is used on most if not all new vehicles. All the ones I have driven have a delay when you floor it, its like the computer is trying to figure out what to do. What gear how much to open it up and so on. That is scary when you floor it and it does not go right away! My old 2000 Chevy truck has a cable throttle. When I floor it, it goes! Really though cable vs no cable, the bike is still highly computerized with the fuel injection and timing so if the ECU or any of the sensors crap out its going to cost more to fix than a carbed bike. I bought a shop service manual for my MT 07 so I can figure out how to fix it if it craps out. So far so good with 537 miles on it.

If you can learn how to service your engine you can learn how to fix busted electronics. People said the same thing when bikes slowly switched from kick start to electric start and from carbs to fuel injection. Ironically these pieces of tech have proven to be far more reliable their predecessors (how many times have you had to service the fuel injection system on a bike, now compare that to how many times you have to clean/rebuild your carbs ). Your non-carbed bikes are already stacked with technology equally or more complex than ride-by-wire and when your tech does fail, it's almost always a simple fuse that needs to be swapped out.

Cycle Cruza, I ride a 2016 CBR100RR which is very similar to your bike. I have not experienced rider aids on a MC at this time but I would only buy it if money is not an issue and I didn't mind bringing it to the dealer. Because i'm a typical rider, I wanted old school and ABS was the only thing that I considered until I realized that it is most useful in the rain which I usually avoid anyway. And learning to brake with both brakes has helped me to stop my bike pretty well rain or shine. As far as the throttle, one of the riders I know has the BMW 1000, he said that the throttle is so sensitive that you have to be careful when you hit a bump. That ride by wire is almost too sensitive for street action. That's just what he said. I have never ridden it. Keep posting videos man, watching them all the time.

The thing is carburettors are far from simple these days. With the boosterpump, automatic choke, multiple needles and barrels... There are more components in my scooter's carb than in my car's EFI. And if just one of them is no good it'll be hours to find the bloody gremlins. At which point it's cheaper to just replace the whole damn thing. Rather than my car where I can plug in an OBD reader and it will tell me the number 3 injector is no good.

I will say that i think carburated machines and cable throttle is Awsome. Wish they would stick with carbs. Have an issue....you can pull the thing off in minutes and do anything you want to it. I never have prob with hard start or running poorly in my equip. But i maintain the stuff well and don't buy junk

I want all the possible rider aids if they are keeping me safe/safer. The technology is better these days and will last us a long time. I had no issues with any of the 14 bikes in the last 5 years and most of them had some king of rider aids. For those riders who don't "need" the rider aids they can stop wearing any gear including their helmets. If they are that good, or they can always get the bike from the 1980's... they simply don't care about safety or they are cheap. When the traction control (Abs or whatever) saves you once or twice for some reason you will start believing in rider aids immediately! The bikes these days will sense a "skid" or traction issue before 99.9% of riders ever will and by the time they notice it the technology already did what is supposed to do and that is saved your ass by cutting out your throttle input for example. Saying I don't want rider aids these days is like saying I prefer my phone to be a Nokia from 1995 instead of the smartphone. Times are changing...

I won’t buy bikes with rider aids because I don’t want nor need them. Why the hell would I stop wearing gear then? I get what you’re trying to say but come on, it’s a bit asinine to say that lol. It’s all about the less electronics less will fail and leave you fucked up
@EEEBA1

@@CollinMac96 I understand that but I had never experienced electronic fail on any of my bikes. With the newer bikes we have no choice because manufactures are making them that way for two reason. One is to keep us safe and the other is to come back to their shops so they can make money (BMW, Ducati, Aprilia, MV Agusta etc).

E.S. Slc I rode a 2018 r1 last week and all those electronics had me like 😋. I grew up on bikes that had high beam turn signals and neutral, that’s it. I should probably stop living in the past and try out these new bikes with all the gizmos

If people don’t like rider aids we get it enjoy being without them. But don’t make out rider aids to be a bad thing, just because you don’t like them. There’s a reason they are being developed and there is no going back. Thanks Moto GP😏

Dude, CC! I am very new to dirt bikes. I am trying to decide between a wr250r/ drz400s and I was also considering a dirt bike. I currently ride a 2017 gsxr750, 1996 shadow 1100 and an older dr200s. I am looking to upgrade to a better offroad bike. I am scarred off of dirt bikes because of motor longevity. I don't mind the extra maintenance on the bike and I do not ride my bikes very hard. I have heard that these motors on last a few thousand miles until they need a very expensive and complete overhaul. Is this true? Will this new bike you got need a complete overhaul in just a couple thousand miles? I know you researched this. Please help clear up my confusion.

In the early days, one had to feel the bike to know whats going on, one had to listen to the bike carefully to know if she was happy, sad or angry. It required attention, time and which made up for the skill in the Rider. All compiled made such a strong relationship between the two, it was really hard to describe in words. It Became life. These Days, These smart ass computers are programmed in the bikes. You dont have to do shit ! Wheelie ? Computers got it. Cornering ? Computers got it. Hard breaking ? That too. Cruise ? That too. Its like playing videogames with few keys. You dont have to do nothing. Dont have to learn nothing. Dont have to feel nothing. Just play it. They dont Ride them anymore.

I have a ‘18 Triumph Street Triple 765R and I love the fly by wire. Instant throttle response unlike my CBR I had. Where I live, you need ABS as well with all the stupid “cagers”. I have the TFT screen and 4 program modes. I leave it on one setting though. Always wanted a Striple

I like the older bikes, manual cables, no rider aid's. I'm currently on a 2005 Kawasaki Z-750s and it doesn't have any fancy stuff, and I like it that way. Less problems that way. I work on cars and bikes for a living. Keeping it simple is always best in the long run and so much easier to diagnose work on. Absolutely loving this Z. Thinking about getting a new or newer bike maybe next year, looking at the ZX-6R because of a few reasons, one being Kawasaki has less of the rider options and modes, ect. I've had bikes from dirt bikes to litre supersport bikes, and bikes in between. Always best to keep it simple and keep all that technology stuff elsewhere.

I agree with you bro, I'm in with cables than rather wire...coz one minor error in the program dats it boom goes your mood in riding it🤪🤪... I'd rather ride by cable coz I still could adjust it on my own and my own raw skills and ability to control that throttle, not supported by AI software...peace yo its just my point of view✌

I have a 1998 cbr 600f so there's no electronic rider aids on that and i've never had any problems with traction, braking or covering. I think we'll all be far better riders with out them.. and also i have a cable operated throttle very smooth. and easy to work on and cheap to fix should a problem arises.

I have a ride by wire on a panigale 959. Didn't know it was ride by wire till now, but just thought the throttle felt artificial. So I like the feel of cable throttle more, compared with my other bikes, XSR900 and Daytona 675r.

Just the throttle by wire system is great you can integrate a quickshifter easily. The Ducati that's a different thing. I wouldn't buy any Ducati anyway.

Fly by wire was the original, because aircraft was the earliest to have the tech. Bikes and cars and trucks don't fly, unless something bad happened. hahaha

Actually, the wifi module on my YZ450fx is removable, it will never cause problems with the bike. I can still work my yz450fx, it's still a simple dirt bike. Really, it's like a built in power commander of sorts. The new power commanders can be tuned via smart phone as well.
