Honestly shocked that the Tommy Kendell wreck wasn't fatal, well before the HANS device and not only the impact but the whiplash the car had was just brutal. IMSA's safety record has got to be the best I've seen.

I met a former racer who was racing a Nissan 300 turbo in IMSA’s Showroom Stock series back in the 90’s at Watkins Glen when his brakes failed at turn 5 (before the chicane was built) and he went straight off, head on into the barrier. The car actually punched through the barrier and the entire front end was jammed under the ARMCO at the A-pillar. He had the presence of mind to put his chin on this chest, grab the front of his harness across his chest and wait for the impact at about 130 mph. Putting his chin on his chest reduced the impact of whiplash and he walked away with cuts and bruises.

Masahiro Hasemi's crash at Fuji Speedway in 1991 is the one that I saw the most than all of the other ones, but his crash was after Takao Wada's crash at the same corner in the same area. Takao landed upside down with the car on fire, and Masahiro landed right side up, the right way up, afterwards. And it scared the Toyota behind it too.

Excellent clips, too bad Sky Sports can't produce Formula One highlights as good as your work. All they know how to do is "ZOOM IN AND PAN, ZOOM IN AND PAN, ZOOM IN AND PAN". Most of the time all you see of the cars is a blurry close up shot of part of the car, you don't even see the whole car, and they think this is good camera work. What a bunch of idiots who think like that. They ruin every race.

That last video of Coulthard @ Bathurst, technically doesn't belong in this compilation, as it was neither a puncture or a suspension failure. What it was, was a damaged tire valve, damaged at the start of the race by contact with another car, which was ejected partway down Conrod, allowing all the air out of the tire. Due to the car's speed, the centrifugal force prevented the tire from collapsing, right up to the turn-in point of The Chase, at which point the extra load collapsed the tire, with the results seen. Was it a Puncture? No. The tire had no holes in it prior to the shunt. The WHEEL had a hole in it, where the pressure valve should've been, but the tire was fine. Was it a Suspension Failure? No. The suspension was fine prior to the shunt. Is this a pedantic post? VERY. Unfortunately, suffering from OCD can be like that...😖😵💫🤯

As a long time competitor race tyres too often explode because teams run them too low on air. Some categories have nininum allowed pressures. Losing a wheel? Just about every one of those were centrelock wheels which is a mechanically poor way of attachment. From F1 down. Mandate safer 5 stud wheels and noone is worse off time wise. . Yes stub axles can and will still break, but with say 5" PCD wheels will break less often. Yet Nascar has stupidly gone that way. F1 cars that weigh near as much as a Nascar are going to spit ofmore wheels. Carbon fibre suspension components too to me are a worry
