I have a bunch of 16mm 'c' mount primes from my Bolex collection. I had a brief passion for 16mm but actually shooting footage on 16mm film was too niche and time consuming. However, I really loved the photography/cinematography element of working with the camera. Is really true there is a way of using my 16mm lenses again as a video hobby? somebody pinch me, please. Hey there, I'm back! Last time your tips are really precious for me so... I'm going to buy (asap because I have to work really soon with my BMPCC) a nice wide lens for my BMPCC. I was thinking about 8 mm or something (24mm on BMPCC). And I found the Kowa 8mm f1.4 but I know that I need to modify it to use it well on my pocket. I don't know WHERE i could modify it, so... What about the Kowa Prominar 8.5mm f2.8/T3? It is usable out of the box, without mods? And there is a site where can I buy it? (Obviousely give me other tips about other wide lenses that you would buy) THX!

Thanks for the nice video, the big reason i went and got an olympus pen lite was because of the in body stabilization and the massive amount of lenses both for it and the amount that can be adapted to it, i recently got a fotodiox ef to m4/3 adaptor and a 70-300 mm lens for 44 dollars! its hard to beat it, yes its not perfectly super sharp like modern lenses but at the price its hard to complain about it and it's just fun to use these quirky little lenses.

Our MFT Speedbooster, which was discontinued a couple years ago, was a budget level line of adapters with a mid-grade enlarging optic which added some extra softness to the image when you opened your aperture up. Our C-mount to MFT adapter has no optic and is a durable adapter that lets you mount C-mount lenses on your MFT camera. Hope this helps!

Hi Javier, those lenses were made for 16mm film cameras, and since the BMPCC has a sensor about the same size of 16mm film, you'll get an equivalent crop to what the lenses were originally designed to capture. Adding a follow focus to these kinds of lenses will be tricky since they're so slim.

Simon Sez Hi Simon, most 16mm movie cameras, including Bolex, used C-mount lenses, but there were a couple brands that had their own proprietary mounting systems, or sold cameras with lenses that were permanently mounted. D-mount lenses were specifically made for 8mm movie cameras, which used a smaller sized film that didn't requires as large an image circle. If you did mount a D-mount lens on you Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera, you'd probably get a lot of vignetting. We currently only offer a D-mount adapter for Pentax Q cameras. Hi. I just bought a BMPCC but i'm a noob so i want to learn. I bought also this little lens waiting for a Samyang cine (or rokinon what ever you want to call it). I'm in a big trouble. I'm in my room, quite lighted and I just assembled the lens. I saw others tutorial that used this lens at 1.4 and was somehow everything in focus.To have in focus a subject, I have to put myself at ten centimeters and anyway if I turn the focus ring changes little . If I close the aperture obviously take some focus but the image begins to wobble and not know why . I can do beautiful details but even a master ? +oiluig illaem Hi oilug, Sean here from Fotodiox. what lens are you using? C-mount lenses don't have image stabilization, so you will get some shake when you hand-hold them on the Pocket. Also, some c-mount lenses won't be able to focus very close, so that might explain why you can't focus on objects super close to you. My footage is pretty smooth because I used a tripod for most of the shots. Also, what ISO are you set to? If you're shooting in a dark room, I'd recommend setting your Pocket to ISO 800. 1600 can get a bit grainy. Let me know if this helps.
@amateurspy
9 жыл бұрын
No... Sorry for my bad english but i didn't explain my self in a clear way. The question of the "shaking" is not cause of the "hand-hold", it's more about the image, in a very closed aperture the image flicks or flashes a little bit, that's what i meant with "wobble". And the other thing is that i CAN focus on objects super close to me, the problem is that i can't focus objects furthest of 10 centimeters. To focus a little bit I have to close the aperture at its minimum range and i still can see anything with 800 iso too (and i also see that little flashing of the image). I have a CCTV 25mm f/ 1.4 C Mount Tv Camera Lens I hope that i have explained my problem in a better way now, sorry for my bad english :) (I really hope that is not a problem of the bmpcc) Thank you very much!!Really..
@FotodioxInc
9 жыл бұрын
+oiluig illaem Okay, so the flicker may be the light source you're shooting under. Try adjusting your shutter angle and see of it goes away. The focus issue is a bit more tricky. It sounds like you are unable to focus to infinity. What lens adapter are you using? If you're using ours, does the lens screw all the way in, or is some part of if bumping into the ring of the adapter?
@amateurspy
9 жыл бұрын
I resolved the focus problem. There was a problem in to the lens, I reassembled all the lens carefully and now works well. The flicker problem remains. I tried adjusting my shutter angle but with the aperture very closed starts to flick. I tried with another lens and the problem is the same. Do you think that is a problem of the bmpcc? Please no :(
@FotodioxInc
9 жыл бұрын
+oiluig illaem Not sure, we shoot with the Pocket all the time over here and we don't have that issue. Do you get the flicker in daylight? Have you checked the footage on your computer screen to see if it flickers there? I'm wondering if it's just the screen on the camera that's flickering.
