Mount Rainier in Washington State used to be 16,000 feet tall. That was, until 5,600 years ago when a devastating collapse occurred which generated the so-called Osceola Lahar. This means that Mount Rainier at one point was the tallest active volcano in the United States. However, now it is only the second tallest active volcano in the United States. #short #shorts #volcano #rainier
