I just picked up this jacket locally on sale. They only had the non-hooded version, but I think I personally like it better that way. Its my first down jacket and is deceivingly warm for how light it is. I'm super happy with my purchase. On a side note I looked for the Montbell Ex Light Anorak and it seems (like Craig said in another video) the only way to get it is direct from them now.

Hey Craig, thanks for all the reviews to all down jackets. This one stands out for me, but I just wanna double-check some stuff with you, as I trust your opinion. I am going to Patagonia in late April/early March for hiking. (Its a part of a year long travel, so weight is very important). Do you reckon its gives enough shelter for patagonian weather? I am wearing merino thermals and Montane Allez Hoodie as base/midlayers. I appreciate your comment. Thanks heaps

I've tested the older model with larger quilt, I think it's 650 fill down with Q. Shield. In the light rain, it's okay, but forget about it in the harsh rain, you definitely need a rain jacket above in those conditions. It is extremely lightweight and very warm. I tested mine at -13F and I was toasty. It fit amazingly great, outstanding design. The only complaint is at the front of the collar, the material wear out very badly because of my beard frictioning the material. They should put more durable material at this spot. For men's jacket, of course :-)

If I use this jacket (or any light-weight jacket) under a Gortex shell for downhill skiing in New England will it provide the necessary warmth or do I need a standard down jacket?

You mentioned a baffle height of 1.4 inch. I purchased the jacket but it is sewn through construction. Did you mis-speak and mean 1.4 inches of loft or is it possible I received the wrong jacket?

Hello. Im considering to buy this jacket, but I fear it will be too warm, ive read its too much, and not very breathable. im between this down jacket and the "vertical down jacket", 450 fill power, 300 grams. (it doesnt have the special down treatment).

Beards and Branches I wear a large and I'm 6 ft 1, around 45 in the chest and just under 210 lbs. The large is a nice fit, just right.

Lee Harvey Oswald The Large would most likely fit very well. Your best bet is to try both and also consider what layers you want underneath. I’m 6’4 170lbs and the large is significantly loose, but the length is good.

It's all about chest and shoulder, no one has the same size regardless of it's height and weight. Some people have bigger shoulder so it will fit very tight on the arm. Designer should consider this and make more space. At least for Mountain hardware. I've tested Rab design, Patagonia and some more model and my favorite is Mountain hardwear even though the arm pit fit smaller. If I take a bigger size I look like a clown. lol :-)

This review was way off on the description of this jacket . I would be skeptical of anything this guy says due to how much he overlooked the quality .

What details exactly? You haven't said anything substantive in this comment leading me to believe this is actually;y true at all. Please explain what specifically was off on the quality?
