Autumn journey by car along the banks of the mountain river Kitoy, from the mouth in the Irkutsk region, where the Kitoy flows into the Angara to the Sayan Mountains in Buryatia, where the source of the Kitoy is located at the confluence of two rivers Samara and Ulzyt.
Kitoy begins his journey on the map in Buryatia, although at the source it is only a small stream. Passing through the uplands of the mountainous part, it crosses the border of the Irkutsk region and enters the plain, where on the map it turns into a full-flowing wide reservoir. Several decades ago, the river was used as the main transport highway for timber rafting. He was sent to a lumber company. Soon, the alloy was recognized as unprofitable, as well as harmful to the environment. Therefore, its use was banned, which is why timber processing at the plant has practically ceased.
Kitoy feeds on a mixed type. Most of the food is provided by rainfall (60%). Another 30% comes from underground groundwater. The rest is from melting snow.
Since the food is predominantly rainy, the river is characterized by frequent floods in the summer months. The spring flood does not last long, although it is considered quite stormy and rapid. Freezing usually begins in the middle of autumn and lasts an average of 3-4 months.
The length of Kitoy is 316 km, 2000 rivers flow into Kitoy
