i actually just saw a wicked theory. remember how in the beginning when the principal says “you can’t have your cake and eat it too” and miles steps in and says “unless you have two cakes” well, we get to see how that ends for miles literally when he grabs TWO cakes from the bakery and tries to juggle them on the way home and how they look when he opens them. this can be symbolized by seeing miles wanting to both save his dad, and the fate of the multiverse at the same time, and based on how those cakes looked, we might already know how this ends.. but who knows, it’s a cliff-hanger for a reason!

Fun facts! -Because Miguel has his own DNA combined with the one of a spider, he is one of the only Spidermans who have organic webbing. also, that's why he also have the claws and his fangs can paralyze enemies (like an actual spider). but he is also doesn't have a spidey sense (that why he didn't realize vulture was up until he attacked him). -Hobbies animation, which is amazing, took the animators *4 years* to animate because it is constantly changing. -if you see the scene again in the first movie when Miles and Peter first meet, Miles spidey sense is *green and purple* before it changes into *blue and red*. he *was* supposed to be the Prowler of his own dimension. but his destiny changed. and it also a nod to that his counterpart in earth 42 is the Prowller.

One of my favorite things about this movie is that it makes the first one even better, if that's possible. If you remember, when Miles goes to examine the spider after he realizes that he's now a Spider-Man, the spider glitches. BECAUSE IT WAS FROM ANOTHER DIMENSION!!! Another thing is that when Miles first meets blonde Peter and they experience the spider sense reverb, you can see Miles background colors shifting from Prowler colors to Spider-Man colors, signifying the different path he's now set on. @@foamytomato9342 This movie made No Way Home seem really cheap and lame in comparison lol ATSV has incredibly written characters across the board with interesting depth and natural chemistry. It discusses profound philosophical and moral themes, like destiny and the necessary evil. It has some of the most detailed, vibrant, and unique animation and art in all of cinema. It makes incredible utilization of its visuals and sound design to supplement information about its world and their inhabitants. It cashes in on the gratification of fan-service without losing sight of its more sophisticated goals. It details a complicated storyline without glossing over important details nor creating obvious plot holes. Character moments and action sequences alike generate immense suspense and resolve well. Character relationships are complex and develop seamlessly, especially the parent-child relationships. It takes special advantage of the "meta-ness" that superhero movies tend to come with in a way that actually deepens its themes (I could write a whole essay on how meta this movie is, the amount of detail here is amazing). Even if you could argue some of my points aren't high bars or don't apply to this movie, I don't think there's any denying the level of sheer effort and artistry that went into this movie, and in my opinion, the results reflect it. And if you still think that Into the spiderverse does the same thing, I would tend to agree with you, because I think they're both 10/10 movies.

For example, Andrew Garfield was unable to save Captain Stacey from the lizard. Uncle Aaron's death was a different canon event. That was the event of Spider-Man losing someone close to them inspiring them to become Spider-Man. For Peter Parker that's usually Uncle Ben, and for Gwen it was Peter.

One thing to keep in mind is that Miguel is essentially correct about the canon events themselves, given what's seen in the movies, but he only knows that because he broke one himself. It's dangerous on a universal scale to mess with them, and because of what he went through, he's doing everything in his power to keep people from breaking them, even if it means going too far. What he's trying to do is good and bad at the same time. He's trying to save universes, and to do that he tries to ensure specific events aren't changed because changing them causes the universe to unravel. It's pretty much the same thing as the set points in time introduced in the marvel what if series where Doctor Strange gets obsessed with bringing back Christine, and in doing so, destroys his universe. Because her death is what led to him becoming a sorcerer in that universe and changing that dooms the universe because he wouldn't have been able to save it from various threats. It's like Peter B Parker said, if these certain events hadn't happened, then all the good things they've done afterwards wouldn't have happened. It causes a paradox that destroys the universe.
@thechatteringclown
Жыл бұрын
Eh, it hasn't really been proven that's what's going on. Yeah, something happened to distort those universes, but it's not actually 100% clear that it has anything to do with breaking canon or whatever bs Miguel is spouting. He's simply jumping to conclusions based on his own assumptions and forcing his own preconceived notions on everyone else. I wouldn't be surprised if the next movie revealed he misinterpreted things and unintentionally caused the death of hundreds if not thousands who could be saved.

Spidersense is a sixth sense for danger, and it's stronger in some spidermen than others. Miles is notorious for having stronger spidersense on top of being stronger, healing faster, and other abilities than base peter. Miles being invisible trying to run away isn't danger, so no one can sense him since he isn't actually fighting them. Also, Miguel doesn't have spider sense because he wasn't bitten by a radioactive spider his DNA was spliced with a spider's dna.

@kevinkijowski5980 All the versions of the Peter and Miles combo I've seen Miles is better, except Peter is more experienced and smarter. But there's a ton of versions, so we can both be right.

The best thing about this movie isn't the animation or the story or the other spider-men, it is the interactions between the kids and their parents. It is so real and really shows both sides, how the kids feel about their parents and how the parents feel about their kids. It might be the best depiction of these relationships I've ever seen.

Everyone! Quick! It's the internet's favorite uncles! Yea, the first one was phenominal, this was was exceptional. The Spiderverse creators got this 14 year old to do the LEGO Spider-Man scenes because on his channel he recreates scenes with LEGO pieces. The plot of this movie and canon events was a way for the creators to address the criticisms Miles was getting at least when he first swung into the pages about 10 or so years ago - he didn't have traditional canon and people were like "he ain't Spider-Man!"

Miguel has fangs because half of his dna was spliced with a spider’s dna, which is why he has no spider-sense, and why he has fangs.

Don't know if you guys noticed but it was hinted at throughout 'Into the Spider-Verse' about Universe 42. When Miles falls off the building, there are two numbers that fell off the sign on the sidewalk with him - a 4 and a 2. 42 was on the belly of the spider that bit him (the spider glitching was also a hint) 42 is also the number of the winning lottery ball that got Miles into the academy. People think it's a reference to the number 42 in 'Hitchhiker' s Guide to the Galaxy' but it's a reference to baseball legend Jackie Robinson's jersey number. The director Peter Ramsey said in an interview the reason they chose 42 was because - "Jackie was a barrier-smashing Black superhero in baseball, and [Miles is a] color-smashing Black superhero in Spider-Man comics".

They also hinted that the spider was from another dimension when Miles went back to find the dead spider in the subway. When he poked it, it started to glitch, letting us know it wasn't from that dimension!

I didn't catch it until the second time I saw this, but the watch given to Gwen by Hobbie was made by him. Hobbie even asks Gwen if she had made her own yet. And every time Gwen uses it, it creates punk portals instead of the usual portals.

The loss of someone close to Spider-Man (uncle Ben, uncle Aaron, Peter, etc) is a separate canon event from the failure to save a police captain close to him. I can see where the confusion comes from though

The end credits scene is probably the first time I sat through it not to get to any post credit scenes. The colors are amazing, the song choice is helps complement the animation. Everything looks larger than life to Miles emphasizing his situation of saving his dad or the universe while Miguel’s crew is on the hunt for him. It gets me excited for the next film!

I know it didn't make it into this reaction, but Sun-Spider, the one in the wheelchair who made the joke about using humor as a crutch, is a fan made Spider-sona that has Ehelers - Danlos Syndrome, and uses her wheelchair and crutches when fighting. As someone with EDS she's my favorite Spider person and it's so amazing that she made it into the movie. It's the type of representation that we don't usually get!

I love the side characters in this. My personal favourites: Daniel Kaluuya as Hobie/Spider-Punk. A total badass anarchist, and but also a bit of a hipster. Andy Samberg as Ben Reilly/Scarlet Spider. Such a low-key oddball. And, of course, Karan Soni (Dopinder from Deadpool) as Pavitr. He's freaking hilarious!

Watching this on the big screen was a goddamn feast. I've never simultaneously loved and hated a movie at the same time. Loved EVERYTHING about it. Hated that it ended the way it did. I knew that the movie was more than likely gonna end on a cliffhanger (initial teasers touted it as a "PART ONE", until they pulled an Infinity War/Endgame, and decided to name parts 2 and 3 different films), but man I didn't expect them to leave me hunger for more THAT much.
@bonaparte6431
Жыл бұрын
its true that in the short term the cliffhanger makes you annoyed at the film, but it takes commitment to good story telling to treat the audience like adults and not spoonfeed them an easy ending. They're definitely doing an Infinity War with this, and while the wait will be brutal, it's going to make the trilogy soooo much better and rewatchable

I remember going "nooo" when it said to be continued. But then thinking of all the storylines it had just built up, I want them to do it justice. Which would take at least another 2-3 hours of film lol

Just for context, every universe has a distinct art style. So Gwen's world has that pastel style animation cause that's how her dimension is. At the end too when miles was sent back, the rain and the colors did look different and then we find out he's in the wrong dimension.

I think that Miles is going to save his dad and keep the universe from crumbling. He is the “anomaly.” There is no playbook for the anomaly. Also there were a lot of hints; him telling Gwen that there was a “first time for everything,” him saying saying “Spider-Man can do both” and “Nah, imma do my own thing (my favorite line in the movie).

Spider-sense only alerts someone to physical danger. If Miles was invisible and tried to attack someone with spider-sense, they'd detect the incoming attack. The real plot hole is why Peter A Parker and Mikes were able to detect each others' spider-senses, but it's easy to handwave that away. Incidentally, this also why The Spot was a foil for Spider-Man in the comics. Because he could open the portals and punch/kick through them interdimensionally, it got around spider-sense.

In the comics there have been times they show and explain that if Peter doesn't consider you a threat, like his close loved ones his spider sense wont really get triggered. Since comics can be inconsistent idk if they still use that explanation in the books.
