Nice to see you digging with it Frank! 🙂👍 Sorry to hear about the bucket pins being worn out. Glad the pin didn't fall out near the end. Like you said, that would be a good winter project 🔧

When you wore thru the cotter pin made me think of a story. A couple years ago a young man was running my Insley. He stopped and came over by me to tell me a drag chain pin had come out and asked me what the protocol was to fix it. I told him that 40 years ago when you were a half mile out in the marsh digging a pond or ditch and something like that happened you didn’t have a four wheeler to drive out quick or a cell phone to call for help so you would fix it how ever you could with what you had on the machine so you could dig the rest of the day without walking out. He went back to the machine and did just that. I didn’t go check to see what he did as he is an intelligent young man and I trusted what he did.

Never saw a shovel on a dirt job, all rock. Had some DANDY operators on the Northwese's because that's all there was on road jobs and such. Murphys. Gopher it, Frank! Blessings

The hand-eye co-ordination and building muscle memory required to operate one of these machines as efficiently as you just demonstrated likely takes an extraordinary number of hours in the cab. Thanks for sharing, please keep us posted on the renovations as you get time to do them :)

Thanks. I just play around here and there. I’ll post more as updates are made to this and my other machines

I don’t ever see any weeds in your dirt piles. I think you play digging in them more than you show us.👍

I see the makings of a digging show at the home of 73DiamondReo with piles of dirt, multiple machines and a dump truck. Great job you both did on the 22-B "How it Works" video.

I like the foot peg on the crowd. Mine is not equipped with such. I put a couple fresh batteries in mine yesterday, and the Cummins started right up after sitting 3 years. I need to give it a good service as the controls are getting difficult to move again. I have serial number 4406. Nice machine you have there.

The foot peg is just some angle iron clamped to the lever. You’ll see this on a lot of Lima and Lorain. Looking forward to some video of your machine.

Always fun to watch old iron at work! But for the newbie, could you explain in a video how the boom works? What opens/locks the bucket trap door? What moves the bucket boom in and out? I see one pulley at the end of the main boom is rolling and the other is stationary, so that pulley's cable is involved in pulling the bucket through the dirt. That's about all I understand. An explanation video would help immensly. Thanks! 😀👍

take your time with it, it's old and well wore out, slow and easy, this is all for show. not for production, it can't handle being bounced about
