Moving house is one of the most stressful things we do. If you are already dealing with chronic stress, anxiety, or trauma, the cumulative burden could put you in allostatic overload, making it difficult or impossible to cope.
My friend, trauma awareness educator Shay Seaborne recently moved house. In this video I ask her what she did to look after herself and make the process less stressful and more sustainable.
She shares her strategies, which will not only be helpful to anyone moving house, but also if you’re involved in any major and time-sensitive project.
Shay partners with me to teach our Foundations of Regulation course for people dealing with stress, anxiety, or trauma. Shay’s experience as a trauma survivor and her understanding of the neuroscience relating to trauma is paired with practical tools and concepts from my BodyIntelligence work, which is primarily based on the principles of the Alexander Technique.
