Moving with a bunch of plants is never fun. Once you get over the shock and stress of having to move, from what you showed of your new place, I think you are going to love it. I can not wait to see what you do with your new garden! Best wishes to you both in the move 💚

I’m watching this video on Sunday the 28th so you have already moved. It is exciting that you have moved into a house with a yard and some structures already in place. You will get to expand your gardening horizons. Good luck and good gardening! By the way, I think the cactus you beheaded should form a callus without any problems.

Hi Shy! It's a bummer and will miss your balcony but look forward to seeing your new space evolve! And I think you could have propped the top of the hedgehog you chopped. You're right, it was fine. Mine however when I chopped it looked like a gross science experiment gone wrong. 😮

Ahh Molly I was totally convinced it was rotting! And it didn't really look any better with time. Maybe I should've given it more time, but it's done now. ☹ And thank you, I'm looking forward to settling in and seeing what we come up with!

If you ever cut off the top of a cactus like that again, they actually root really easily if you just let them callous and then stick it in some dirt. And they can last for quite a few days without that. So if you would want it you could have just stuck it in a bag or something, moved with it and then planted it once you got there and had settled in a bit. :)

I hear you...a balcony large enough with the _right_ conditions would've taken us much longer time than we had (we only had 3 weeks to vacate). It might be possible if you have more time. We had to opt for a house. Good luck with everything if you end up moving!

Good luck with the move. I watch a you tuber called Nick Pileggi on purging plants and after watching him, I went around my house of over 150 indoor plants and starting getting rid of plants that I was trying to rehab but they weren't ever going to get better. I felt so good after that because I was stressing so much about plants that I had paid a lot of money for that weren't doing well.

Thanks Maryanne! I totally hear you. It's so much better to let them go than to keep putting time and energy into something that's just hanging on. And I'm learning more about what types of plants I'm more suited to. Learning all of the lessons!

Plastic tubs and nursery crates are definitely the best option if you can get your hands on them. We used a mix of those and cardboard boxes- we weren’t carrying them very far, just using them to lift from a trolley into a van.

Congratulations on finding a new place. The garden space has so much potential. You are right about snake plants needing more water. Often times people in the West literally starve them of water and they look stunted. They are native to Nigeria and they grow rapidly and prolifically during the rainy season here and go dormant and use up water stored in their leaves during the dry season. So if you want growing, happy snake plants with multiple pups , bright light and regular watering is needed .

Thank you so much! Yes, after constantly being told that snake plants are low light plants, mine definitely look so much happier after moving them to bright spots with more water. So interesting to hear that about them in Nigeria. Makes a lot of sense!

I don’t think it’s a great idea to put roots that have been in moss in water. They’re used to less water at that point because they’ve grown up in moss. They will likely rot. I would keep them in moss or go directly to soil.

😱😱😱 My worst nightmare. I moved 2,440km a few years ago, in the middle of the winter, all with tropical plants and a kitty. I have no idea how I would even do it now. When I moved, my coffee tree was only 4ft tall... It's now 8.5ft tall. Also, sorry for going from metric back to imperial.

It's definitely the downside of renting, and can be a very stressful process. We loved living here and were sad to leave. On the upside we were lucky enough to find a home that suited us perfectly!
