I love that they talk about getting a second Macaw like parents starting to think about having a second human baby. “We cleaned this room out, Shyann is going to have a little sibling to play with, NOT NOW of course but soon” its like being near my sister 4 months before she gets pregnant. I LOVE IT!

@elphaba71688

@@sienna.6654 birds are a ton of work though, and with the facility, they are going to be very busy. the good thing about reptiles is (generally) you only have to feed them and clean their enclosures like once a week or so. with birds, its pretty much every day you need to clean that cage. plus, I believe, being more social, that birds need more attention than reptiles. reptiles just want to be left alone in most cases, birds.. they want your undivided attention. except the parakeet I had as a teen. she wasn't that friendly. but that could have been because of my brother throwing stuff at her cage :(
@neilchace1858

@@elphaba71688 birds mean a lot more than parrots though. There are some types of birds that you would need to clean the cage and feed them daily, but don't need human attention- stuff like doves, most softbills, etc. Also, yes parrots are social. That doesn't mean human socialization though. If they got two or three of the same kind of bird, they'd have plenty of socialization between themselves.
