In particular, the sentence "Failing doesn't mean that you're a failure, it's just the concept that you can fail so many times and you could still get up and you could still race and you can still succeed" will stick in my memory. Thank you Mikaela for this "lesson" and for everything in general. Also, a big THANK YOU for this insight into your life. You are an amazing person and an amazing skier and also my biggest role model in a long time 💕thanks and greetings from a 16 year old from germany. Good luck for your next race!🍀

I couldn't agree more. I can tell this to my kid all the time, but when it comes from a champion like Mikaela it means so much more. The difference between pros and amateurs is how they recover from failure. Mikaela is pro in every way. What a class act.

Thank you so so much for this. Sadly skiing isn’t the most popular sport in my country so it doesn’t get much mainstream broadcasting and I’m sure I’m not the only one in this situation; having such an example and great representative of this sport as you are opening this channel with the purpose of posting such contents is a blessing. Love you.

I love that as well, just in general her attitude towards the sport and the competitors is very admirable in my opinion. I can think of others though, Kilde and Odermatt seem to have a very good relationship despite them fighting for every inch on the course.

I think it's good that it's on Mikaela's own channel and not some Netflix show because then it wouldn't be free. Also, it would put more cameras in her face that might distract her, if it is just her own friends doing the filming its normal, but the last thing she needs is more cameras to distract her.

Who cares about the Olympics. It was one meet and, btw, you have won gold medals at prior Olympics. I’m much more interested in this season and your chase of the 86 win record, a far far more significant accomplishment than one meet. And, even if your career ended today, you’d be a top 3 skier of all time. The fact that the Olympics have such outsized importance is an indictment of FIS. Skiing is a fantastic sport and it should be wildly popular in the U.S. The best alpine and nordic skiers in the world are American, you and Jessie Diggins. You are both outsized personalities, great figures, with compelling back stories. And your significant other is the best male skier or top 2. To waste this once in a lifetime opportunity is the shame of FIS. An F1-like reality show needs to be done and started immediately.

Of course, you're correct: falling down a few times does not mean you're a failure, when you put it up against the 88+ times you didn't fall. But unfortunately, your falls were in the only competition most Americans bother to watch, which is on us, not you. Very good KZitem series!!!

@12:00 I love how Mikaela is ‘fangirling out’ at the sight of Marlies Schild and Tanja Poutianen…is someone going to clue her in that she is only a couple wins away from surpassing INGEMAR STENMARK?!! So glad to see her in a much better headspace than we’ve seen her in for the past couple/few years after her father passed. Man, is she in awesome shape and good form so far this year! It’s also very cool to see her getting ready to enter a new chapter of marriage and other such adult things that her youthful appearance always tricked us into ignoring the presence of! Here’s to a great season hopefully filled with smiles, [pain-free] lessons learned and many victories! Skål! 🖖😎👍

Keep at it, Elisa! 💪 A LONG LONG time ago, I did cross country running in high school. The first month or so was brutal. I went to the coach and said, " I don't think I can cut it." His Motto was Pay Now or Pay Later...meaning if you put in the hard work and effort, you'll gain rewards for it. By the end of that season, I was classed as one of the scorers for the team (top 5 runners for each team). The next season, we were seeded for the Mt. SAC invitational against top teams from the US and international and ran in the State championship.

What amazing results from Semmering! Full time Mikaela watchers will know that GS is the most open category right now: Hector, Vlhova, Bassino, Gut-Berami, Worley, Brignone etc are all capable of winning any race. And Mikaela's recent GS record is relatively modest. So to come away with back-to-back GS wins, tied up with a gutsy slalom victory - that first run! - is very special. That she can do that, AND smash the St Moritz Super G...who else has ever been able to achieve these things at the same time, in the same season?

My theory about your Olympic performance last year is this: You seem like somebody who dislikes media HYPE. There is no greater media hype in the sports world than the Olympics. By flaming out so spectacularly in the Olympics you were totally let off the hook, except for a little sympathy and questions about what was going on. Your unconscious mind just opted out of participating in the media circus. In that light, it wasn't a failure. You strike me as sort of a reluctant hero. You seemed more comfortable with Petra beating you recently, than when you win. I'm not saying right or wrong. I think that means you are doing it for yourself and not for the attention from the "world". This seems healthy to me. I think you take very good care of yourself, which is why you have remained virtually injury free. Kudos to you for that.

The olympics were a disaster, its one thing to fall in an effort to win gold, and its another to fall on your face because your nervous system won't allow your muscles to function. And, if you do not think the brain lock will occur at the next olympics; then you are sorely mistaken, the memory trace is deep and lasting those death cookies will snake your tracks, again.
