Move around inside your model! In this basics tutorial, we look at positioning the camera and looking around inside your model, as well as walking through it.
Another terrific video, Aaron! I'm in the middle of modeling a small cabin and was thinking about trying a walk trough. This made it a real fast learning curve. Also, I installed Curic's Zoom Trough extension two days ago. It's great for walking through walls without getting lost in the middle.

Thanks Aaron, I didnt' know about changing the walking pace, not sure I'll ever need it but it's always good to know all the options for the various commands.

That was really useful, Aaron. I've struggled with this before, but you've covered all the bases really well (as per usual!). Thanks. Simon.

I'm super stoked about showing my middle school students, I will report back. This could be a game changer.

I’m not 100% sure of this and I’m not at my computer to double check but I think when you first click to position yourself in the model you can drag to an object in your model which will then be the target of your view. Does that sound right?

Quick (picky) question: If I'm 6', isn't my eye height a 3-4 inches less than that? Or is SketchUp adjusting for that automatically.

I think you’re right. It is called ‘eye height’ after all.

I am just starting in Sketchup. These videos are really useful. Are they listed somewhere in a logical progressive order for learning.? The titles just appear randomly on the KZitem screen.

The Square On videos are created for every function in SketchUp. While there is not necessarily a linear order to view them in, you can watch them in the order that they were created in by watching the Square One playlist.

@@SketchUp Thanks for the reply. (Does Aaron write the replies?) I found the Playlist. This is helpful. KZitem is not the most friendly for finding what one is looking for. I am coming to sketchup from using AutoCAD 2D. I have a few questions. In AutoCAD we have a whole library of steel shapes. How can I bring that outline I to Sketchup, make it a face, and then push-pull into a 3D object? Next question: How do I make the equivalent of a break line in Sketchup? Say I have a joist, and I only need to show where it is connected, and I am not interested in the full length, but I want to show it continues. Last question (for now): Have you done a video about concepts in moving from AutoCAD 2D to sketchup? E.g. making fillets, creating polylines, etc. Thanks in advance.?

Am I late in the comments to ask if it walk could be made into WASD control, or did someone already ask that?

W, A, S, and D are all assignable shortcut keys... if you have a command bound to one of them, that command will activate when you press that key.

Your eye height should be slightly lower then your actual height ;) FoV should also be covered especially as it related to both interior and exterior perspectives.

Well, on the average laptop screen I’m only about 4 1/2” tall, but in real life I am quite a bit bigger!
