Hey! Well I can't promise anything, I think there are opportunities definitely but you might have to speak at least basic spanish. But good luck nonetheless! There are always opportunities for those who look and put a lot of effort into it! Besides since you are a student there might also be jobs at the university, sometimes they can help with that too. Let me know if that helps!

@lolamoro
6 ай бұрын
Thank you! In my experience it was quite cheap (and compared to London, very cheap!) but it depends on your budget. Rent is most wayy cheaper than the other major cities like Barcelona, Valencia, and even Malaga. The pro about Granada is that you basically spend nothing on transport, everything is so close by foot. I'm not sure about the part time job, if you speak basic Spanish it shouldn't be too hard to get a hospitality job, but if you don't then I am not too sure how easy it is. Did this help? 🤗

Mine last year for a full studio in the middle of the town centre was €450 + bills which was about €60 electricity (in the summer with A/C on most of the time because it is really a necessity) and I think €25 water. So about £530 all together. Does this help? 🙂

How exciting, Stefan! Rent right in the town center near the cathedral was about £450 without bills. Electricity added up to about £60 a month with AC on almost all the time (which was necessary in the 40°C summer) and water was also about £50 a month if I'm not mistaken. This was a furnished studio apartment with a small balcony, but pretty spacious nonetheless. The air in Granada is quite clean, especially around the mountains. It does get hazy sometimes which I though was the rather sandy air coming from malaga and the North of Africa. But I would go live there any time, it was lovely and a great sized small town to live in. I miss it very much!

8:03 what is the second unit scam?
@lolamoro
3 ай бұрын
Basically it's usually a yellow price tag that says a really low price, but in a small print to the side it states "price for the second unit" so for example you think you are paying €0.45 for a product but really you're paying €1.20 and the second unit is the one that would be £0.45
@lolamoro
3 ай бұрын
But it's really really misleading. I had one weekly shop that came out literally double the proce it should because I selected the "cheap sale products" when I didn't know it was the price for second units

I've lived in Granada for 25 years, and my experience of the city is completely different from yours. Are you sure you weren't in some other city? For example, I have never had water falling on my head from air conditioners, nor have I ever heard of this happening to any of my friends or associates. Nor have I ever encountered pickpockets, and I know for a fact that pickpocketing occurs far less in Granada than in any other Spanish city (Barcelona is notorious for its pickpockets - most of whom are not Spanish). You said it was "safer" in the centre of the city. Again, Granada is one of the safest cities in Spain, and in the 25 years I've lived here, I've never heard of, or met, anyone who was attacked, assaulted, raped or whatever in any part of the city, and I have female friends who feel perfectly safe walking through the streets of Granada alone at night, in any neighbourhood. You said you don't know how to get a ticket for the bus. You pay for your ticket when you get on the bus. You can buy tickets in the machines at some bus stops, but you can just hop on the bus and pay your fare. You said you went outside and it was 46ºC. Okay, it certainly gets hot in Granada in July-August, but in the 25 years I've lived here, I have never seen the temperature go higher than 45ºC, and that was a rare event. The highest temperature ever recorded in Granada was 45.7 °C, and that was in July 12, 2017. The temperature here has never reached 46ºC. We had a prolonged heatwave this year, but the temperature maxed at around 40ºC. Most of the time it was 35º-40ºC. But of course many Granadinos have an apartment on the coast to which they head during the summer months. I could go on, but I see that I already have. Just a couple of niggles and I'll be on my way. We don't pronounce the "h" in Alhambra. It's "al-AM-bra", not "al-HAM-bra". And in the same vein, it's Andalucía (as in "see ya!" with the emphasis on "see" - not "an·duh·LOO·see·uh".) Hasta luego!

Oh my god, now that I’m thinking about it, I might actually have been all the way across the country in Zaragoza! And I took a magic bus that got me in Málaga within an hour and a half! The power of magic, huh?! I wish Alsa buses were like that. Look, I’ll say three things: 1. I have video proof of everything I said. Yes including the 46°C public marker 👍 Happy to add a link below in another comment 2. Never said Granada is an unsafe city. But I was alone. So it’s perfectly normal to be more cautious and ask people I met for tips on safety, which I passed on. I was alone. I had someone wake me up banging on my apartment door and ringing the doorbell at 3:30am. I was alone. Men stare you down into your past life in Spain, any woman can confirm. I was also, alone. 3. I will let people say Rio de Janeiro however they want. Because I’m not that petty. They aren’t trying to speak Portuguese, they are trying to refer to a place in english. And it’s ok! You know, the only place I lived where I was NEVER commented on my accent or the way I said something was the USA. God bless them. A few other things I won’t even comment on because I’ve already spent enough time on this message. Thank you for all your input 🙏
@@lolamoro Geez, Louise! There's no need to get hysterical! You ask people to comment on your videos, and when they do you lose the plot! Take a deep breath! (And don't forget to exhale.) 1/ You posted "video evidence" of the temperature reaching 46ºC in Granada, but if you'd lived in Granada a bit longer you'd know that those street thermometers are notoriously unreliable. They can be out by 4-5 degrees. I've seen displays showing 47ºC and 48ºC, but I know that they were giving false readings, since the highest temperature ever recorded here - ie, recorded using accurate and reliable thermometers - was 45.7ºC. That's the official record, but you want your viewers to believe that this is wrong because you videoed a crappy street thermometer displaying 46ºC? And even if the temperature had been 46ºC, as you claimed, this would be a extremely rare occurrence. Something that had never happened since records began! Whereas you presented it in your video as something visitors to Granada should expect. 2. You didn't explicitly say Granada is an unsafe city, but you implied it. If you don't think it's unsafe, why would you suggest that it's safer in the central streets? Okay, so you were on your own (no surprise there...), but by pointing this out you're doubling down on your implied claim that some parts of the city are dangerous. You're saying that it's only safe if you're with other people. Again, none of the women I know here in Granada has ever expressed any concerns for their safety when walking alone in any part of the city. Of course people can get attacked anywhere, but Granada is as safe as it gets. 3/ What has Rio de Janeiro got to do with anything? I corrected you on your pronunciation of "Alhambra" because you're in Granada, and the Alhambra features prominently in many aspects of life here. And you're *in* Andalucia (or Andalusia, if you prefer the English spelling), so I corrected your pronunciation to spare you the embarrassment of pronouncing it incorrectly as you pontificated about your knowledge of the place (and made videos about it). Let's be honest, it doesn't exactly help your credibility when you don't know how to pronounce the place your living in, or the name of its most important feature. "The only place I lived where I was NEVER commented on my accent or the way I said something was the USA. God bless them." I didn't criticize your accent, I corrected your pronunciation. Do you even have an accent? It sounds like a blend of several accents, with none of them standing out (an accent waiting to happen?). Americans wouldn't be in any position to correct your English, given that most of them are linguistically challenged and either illiterate or semiliterate. Anyway, I've wasted enough of my valuable time responding to your nonsensical ramblings. Slán go fóill
