What about driving in Prague and drivers licenses? Is it affordable to buy a scooter there? Seems like a good thing to have in a city like that. P.S. do you give guitar lessons? :D

Good point, I don’t have a car out here so I forgot to include this! Hopefully another commenter can assist you with that one properly? You need insurance, road tax etc like in most countries and I think I read somewhere it’s a bit of a headache sorting out czech paperwork registering a car from abroad. The lime scooters are here, and there’s unite a bit of controversy surrounding them, but I’ve seen the Xiaomi scooters on sale plus others on places like Alza.cz and in the last year I’ve definitely seen quite a few of these appearing around the city. Unfortunately I don’t give guitar lessons - sorry!! Thanks for your comment :)

According to the part about shopping malls, you forgot to name "Globus" among the others you did (Billa, Tesco, Kaufland ... ) Globus, especially the one at Zličín is my favourite. I think, there are three great "things", which UK give us, Czechs, let's call it "Three S". 1) First S is for "snooker" - the cue sport, which is the sport of the true gentlemen. This is the only sport, where if someone does a mistake, or something against rules and the referee doesn't spot it, the player admits that openly immediately after it occured. 2) Second S is for "Strictly come dancing" - we have the czech equivalent called "StarDance, když hvězdy tančí", but when I watch the UK original, it has slightly better quality in the terms of level of the actual dancing. 3) Third S is for "David Suchet" - great actor, who portrayed Hercule Poirot on screen in every novel, written by Agatha Christie. His portrayal is(, unlike the portrayal of Peter Ustinov,) extraordinary.

as alocal - I must say its perfect video with the very basic info. U should mention that the public transport works 24/7 - the late night tram lines (midnight to approx. 4:30 a.m.)operates every 30 minutes, fri and sat late nights every 20 ninutes.. late night busses usually Evry 30 minutes, in less populated areas with family houses only every 60 minutes. the cost of new trams 15T from Škoda Transportation was 85 000 000 CZK per one piece (3,7mil EUR/ 4 mil USD /2,9 mil GBP)

not per one piece but for all of the trams.
@johnnygomez7063

@@MrMajsterixx Above mentioned price is per 1 tram (=1 piece) ONLY.. And I - as a daily user - can confirm that they are not made of gold.... But the main advantage of this producer Škoda Transportation comparing the other producers like Hitachi, Alstom, Bombardier, Siemens etc. is that this trams are very light comparing to other producers - so the electricity consumption is also much lower than the models from the competitors.. It means that the operations costs are much-much lower... And it counts A LOT. The "living proces" of the tram is usually around 2O years, in Prague up aroud to 40 years... So the higher buying price no matter..

Hi Paul, how perfect Prague would be if I had more bicycles and fewer cars like other countries in Europe. The city was designed to travel on foot, so the bicycle is a perfect vehicle for her. Greetings from Argentina.

What I can't understand is if the salaries for ordinary people in the Czech Republic are as low as I have been told, why are consumer durables (white goods and consumer electronics) and clothes and shoes just the same price or even more expensive than what I would pay in the UK?

Hi Paul, as a first time visitor to your channel, I'm about to binge all your videos (I'm considering a move from Spain and I've visited Prague once before). Great, informative and clear advice here! Given that it's been 18 months, do you still consider it affordable or has it gone back to being cheap to live there?

Hi Paul! Thanks again for another informative video! Honestly the thing I'm most worried about moving to Prague is all the paperwork for visa, zivno, health care, social insurance, etc. I have no idea where to start with the process and when. But other than that, thank you for this video! :) Dekuji

Honestly I'd use an agency. I had a really good experience with movetoprague.com (I don't work for them honest lol!) and they are able to help you with everything you need otherwise it can be really overwhelming unless you speak Czech.

@@loxley75 Yes, I'd be inclined to agree with Elliot. If you can stay in your home country for an extra month or two to save the cash to pay for the assistance of an agency then your transition will be much smoother.

Hmm, there are lots places to play around the city. Maybe if you take a couple of lessons your teacher might be able to recommend someone to play with of an equivalent playing ability. Alternatively look on social media groups or on Meet-up perhaps? Good luck and thanks for your comment :)

I like your enthusiastic and clear presenting style so it's really jarring to hear you pronounce the 26th letter of the alphabet as "zee". You're English, you're speaking English and, going by your other videos, you teach English so using Americanisms is totally unnecessary. I also sincerely hope you're not teaching your students American English.
