😂 You are full of shite woman because everything you said there are lies and/or blatant exaggerations!… Typically the New Zealanders who go to stateside, like the rest of the world who goes stateside, are New Zealand’s best and the brightest and they are not going to your freezing hicktown way up in the Midwest by the Canadian border where people drive everywhere!… The vast majority of American cities (and I’ve been to many of them) have very efficient public transportation systems (24/7 year around in my city), much better than Auckland which even lacks a half way decent subway system and/or transportation from the city to the airport and back and now, Auckland’s underwater because of its terrible rainy weather!… Also, we have electric cars everywhere now with charging stations which New Zealand won’t be having anytime soon!… You sound like the worst person to ask about living in the U.S. which 9 out of 10 people around the world would prefer over New Zealand!… I know that I would absolutely annihilate you and expose your lies and exaggerations in a debate!… We can discuss your 10 points one by one and more!… You are telling blatant lies or telling half truths and that becomes even more obvious when you wave your hands around and don’t go into specifics like for example, how, in your opinion, U.S. foods are unhealthier than New Zealand foods despite the U.S. having the very reputable FDA, what U.S. foods or ingredients are banned in New Zealand, what healthy foods are available in New Zealand but not in the U.S., etc.?… The U.S. has better quality and more choices of virtually everything compared to New Zealand and at a better price. If there wasn’t a sucker born every minute, then you, woman, would be out of business very quickly!

Mid-Westerners going about their business in snowstorms sounds like us Wellingtonians going about our business in gale-force winds and cyclones. There's even a video somewhere of some Kiwis who were on the news in Florida during a hurricane report because the correspondent was shocked that people were walking past in stubbies! They were returning from a last minute emergency run for some essential supplies-a couple boxes of beers!! 🤣🤣🤣

Nice to be in NZ, but you made the U.S. sound absolutely unliveable. I live in Michigan, a cold weather state and raised two boys with no shootings, bombings etc. I shop at WalMart and look for organic vegetables and read all the labels on everything else...the food is only bad if you make poor choices. There are many wonderful things and people in the U.S. I love where I live. I go to a church that is extremely welcoming and family centered. Americans are some of the warmest and most generous people you will find. I don't think you even tried to show that...basically, if I were a Kiwi, I would turn down any job in the U.S. after watching your presentation!

Sorry if you felt that way - it was not my intention. Honestly, I would not have felt this way until I saw the difference, lived the difference, etc. This is my experience - it won't be everyones.

@@Kiwiamericans The only thing I could figure was that you lived in a large city...Milwaukee? Any country is what you make of it. I was upset because you truly did make the U.S. sound like a place totally unliveable. Thank you for taking time to reply. 'Nuff said.

Most Kiwis have very positive feelings about the USA and the American people. Many Kiwis visit or work in the USA and love it. Tara is a proud American so I wouldn't think she would ever want to make the USA sound like a terrible place. New Zealand is far from ideal, I'm sure Tara has a lot to comment on that too 🙂

I think you missed a massive #11, which probably should be higher up the list ... Healthcare. Once again thanks for a well presented and honest video. I like how you try to genuinely contrast 2 cultures while trying not to be too critical or judgemental, even though sometimes of course it's difficult not to come across that way.

US summers are amazing. I still remember the summers in NY. Hot and humid nearly every day with lots of sun.

Seattle and even San Francisco are warmer than most parts of NZ. They are the coldest main cities in the US regarding summers. Also nowhere in NZ comes close to Seattle or San Francisco regarding sunshine

Talking politics in the USA. As a Kiwi living in the USA for twenty years I found that just saying Im not a Citizen and can’t vote stops a lot of the political talk. Downside I worked in all 50; states as a field engineer and pre GPS systems in cars I often had to ask directions in strange towns. I found especially in the mid west asking police for directions especially if I was going to a Military installation it would take sometime more than an hour just convincing them I was just a specialist engineer here to sort out a problem. Always keep your cool. Getting made at a policeman who doesn’t know what a Swiss company or a country called Switzerland exists will just get you locked up. I worked for a Swiss company and my teritory was from Northern Canada tomChile. Oh US custome has no sense of humour my experience is you never joke with US Customs. 15:13

I was watching a video about food additives in the US, I found it quite shocking that McDonald's fries have seven ingredients, but that paled in comparison to Burger King whose fries have over thirty ingredients!! Most of the world has oil, salt and obviously potatoes, I just can't get my head around it.

The holiday thing would drive me crazy....I don't wanna decorate my house for Halloween or Christmas with lights and all that stuff. I'm just not into it like that...but in America I'd probably be the grinch of the street.

She’s really telling the truth though. Although there are *some* companies that are more flexible about when you get your work done, depending on your role/position. But a lot of people do work overtime. The stress of sending kids to school with all the school shootings is so REAL. we’re homeschooling until we can move to NZ. Perhaps the positive thing I can say is if you’re very very wealthy, you can have anything you want in America. If you’re not, you can perpetually be paycheck to paycheck fighting to get ahead. One Medical emergency can financially ruin someone for decades.

I know, right? She clearly was living in some really horrible communities and working a job she didn't like. I think you can find that anywhere in the world. Her experience of the US is vastly different to mine but I lived up and down the westcoast, it's very much like here in NZ. There are some noteworthy differences, like up there I found more fresh food pre prepared meals in the groceries and grainy breads for quick picking up. IF... you choose to have a corporate job, there will be stress but there are plenty of small business owners as well who are more relaxed, especially in the smaller holiday type townships. Annual holiday accrues over time so two weeks is what you should expect for your first year or two. I literally burst out laughing when she was telling folks that she saw guns all the time. Seriously, she had to have been living in East LA or in some odd southern boarder town or maybe Detroit? The ONLY guns I ever saw were carried by police or in cases locked up in folks homes if their family was into hunting deer or elk. In California I saw a rancher who had a rifle rack in his rig, but yeah.... not quite sure what that was about. I certainly can appreciate why so many are leaving NZ at this point and the US, again depending on where you choose, could be a good option.

An odd add to my comment above... just last night a guy was shot in his car across the street from where I am here in Auckland. The gang viloence is REAL down here in New Zealand and on the rise, so where I never really saw folks walking around with guns while living in the US,... just last night witnessed a guy walk up to a driver of a car with a gun in his hand to shoot the driver point blank three times. I'm not even in a part of town that is known for being "bad". So, yeah... NZ isn't some pie in the sky utopia. IF... you would consider moving to Oregon or Washington State, then NZ might be an option... nearly a perfect match to living west of the Cascade mountain range. Also, on the topic of labour law, if you show up late for work you have three chances before they can legaly fire you... but, keep that up and that is what will happen. You can't as easily be fired on the spot, again... three warnings, so that's really probably the most noticeable difference between here and there around the topic of job tardiness. Again, it really depends on what occupation you have and the relationship you have with your boss... not much different from up there.

Easy to see why you left the US. I've never had these impressions, sounds like you chose to live in super shitty places... how unfortunate! I've never seen people with guns all the time... goodness, did you live in East LA? Crazy video! LOL
