MP40🇩🇪 VS Thompson🇺🇸 The MP40 has: 1. A slower rate of fire. 2. Less recoil and muzzle rise. 3. Weights much less. 4. Magazine changes are faster because of the magazine well. 5. Is easier to 'point' ie hit your target fast. 6. Stock folds for compactness when not in use or riding in a vehicle. 7. Bolt handle is on the left side making it easier to use for right handers. 8. Bolt can be locked back to help prevent accident discharge if gun is dropped. 9. Magazine carries 2 more rounds than a TSMG. 10. Hooded front sight is better protected vs TSMG and aids in the guns 'pointability.' The TSMG has: 1. A more powerful round in the 45ACP. 2. Stonger milled steel receiver. 3. Magazines that are much easier/faster to load.

Qotd, easy The mp40, not because of ergonomics, or repairability but because of ammo 9mm prabellum would have been easier to obtain than .45 since i already "captured" the gun from Hans i take his ammo too .45 would have had to have been airdropped which could be more dangerous

I'm in my mid 50's and my health is poor and what I said about what you are doing with the last couple of videos is Impressive and I meant what I said it is like going to Dragon man's and getting a museum tour on the history of the weapons instead of the rest of it. P. S., I will say that you are a very special person to be able to get and collect what you have and I was lucky to be fortunate enough to be at the right place at the right time to have what I got. Never had a lot of money but had great friends who took care of me and introduced me to the people that I do know but they are all 60 and up now and I am not sure how many of them are left until this spring at the Washington County Gun Show. Have been going there at least 2 a year for 20+ years now. Group of my friends gets smaller every year now. But anyway I am proud of you and your family for supporting you in what you do and I am happy that in a place that everything is not allowed you have everything! I just want a place that my stuff will have a home long after I am gone and will be safe and taken care of. Thank you for sharing your work and time with me and what is left of my family and friends. The MP-38 was a perfect example of German over-engineering when it came to something as simple as a SMG. However, after a few years they listened to the feed-back of troops and then came out with the MP-40. Regardless, the MP-38 is the Holy Grail when it comes to German over-engineering of WW2 German Maschinenpistole I:E; the MP-38. And why it fetch a very high premium when an original (C&R) and transferable on a Form-4 comes up for sale here in the States. The MP-38 is truly a work of art when it comes to over-engineering something as a bullet-hose. By the way I can tell from the trigger guard that your MP-40 was made by Erma....does it have a Waffemamp manufacture code of AYF on the butt end of the receiver?

If anything it should be called a Vollmer named after Heinrich Vollmer who designed the MP-36 which became the MP-38 which would simplified into the MP-40 As for my choice: MP-40 beats the grease gun easily. Easier to find ammo, less recoil, better sights, and better controls.

Very nice! I never got the logic of the 'common caliber to resupply off the enemy' thing though, wouldn't the hypothetical partisan and/or post apocalyptic raider just expropriate their downed adversary's weapons along with their ammo at that point? Also, I vote grease gun because it looks and functions like some maniac dreamed it up between pipe hits and made it in his garage whereas making a 'refined' open bolt strikes me as somewhat akin to putting scrimshaw on a zipgun. Selective fire? Nyet, slow bullet hose is fine!
